The medicinal product esomeprazole TAD 20 mg for heartburn is an enteric-coated hard capsule and contains the active substance esomeprazole. It belongs to the group of "proton pump inhibitors" and is used for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms (e.g. heartburn and acid regurgitation) in adults. Reflux is the backflow of stomach acid into the oesophagus, which can lead to inflammation and pain. Esomeprazole reduces the amount of acid that the stomach produces. It is important to note that esomeprazole is not for immediate relief and tablets may need to be taken for several days before improvement occurs. If there is no improvement after 14 days or if symptoms worsen, a doctor should be consulted. The recommended dosage is one hard capsule per day. Do not take more than the recommended dose, even if there is no immediate improvement. The duration of treatment is up to 14 days, and the intake should be stopped when one is symptom-free. The medicinal product should be kept away from heat and moisture and out of the reach of children. The medicinal product should be disposed of in accordance with the pharmacist's instructions when no longer in use to protect the environment.
