Iberogast Classic is a herbal medicinal product for the treatment of functional and motility-related gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable stomach and irritable bowel syndrome and for the supportive treatment of gastritis. It relieves complaints such as stomach pain, bloating, flatulence, gastrointestinal cramps, nausea and heartburn. The active ingredients are tincture of ribbon flowers, angelica root tincture, camomile flower tincture, caraway tincture, milk thistle fruit tincture, lemon balm leaf tincture, peppermint leaf tincture, celandine tincture and liquorice root tincture. It contains 31% alcohol by volume. The dosage depends on the age: children from 3-5 years take 10 drops three times a day, children from 6-12 years take 15 drops and adolescents from 13 years and adults take 20 drops. The medicine should be taken before or with meals with some liquid. It should not be used for more than one week without medical advice. If the symptoms persist or recur, a doctor should be consulted. Iberogast Classic is not suitable for children under 3 years of age, people with hypersensitivity to the ingredients and patients with liver disease. Pregnant and breastfeeding women must also not use it. Possible side effects are liver damage and liver failure. The medicine comes in the form of drops and is well tolerated.
