Information for use with the article Bisacodyl SANAVITA 10 mg Suppositories: Bisacodyl SANAVITA 10 mg Suppositories is a laxative that can be used for short-term use in constipation and in conditions requiring facilitated defecation. It belongs to the group of triarylmethanes. It should not be used if there is an allergy to bisacodyl or any of the other ingredients, in cases of intestinal obstruction or in children under 10 years of age. In the case of constipation in children, use only as directed by a doctor. Before use, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medicines, are pregnant or breastfeeding as there may be interactions and potential risks. The recommended dose is one suppository per day for adults and children over 10 years of age, and the maximum daily dose should not be exceeded. The suppository is inserted into the rectum and the onset of action usually occurs after 10 to 30 minutes. It should not be used for more than a short time unless recommended by a doctor. Possible side effects include abdominal cramps, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea, pain, irritation and bleeding of the rectum, as well as dizziness, vomiting and blood in the stool. In case of overdose, diarrhoea, abdominal cramps and high fluid, potassium and electrolyte loss may occur. The storage temperature should be below 25 °C and the expiry date on the packaging should be observed. The suppositories are available in packs of 5 suppositories.
