Instructions for use for HEPARIN AXICUR 60,000 I.U. ointment, 100 g

Heparin axicur 60,000 I.U. ointment is used for the supportive treatment of acute swelling after blunt injuries (bruises, haematomas) and in superficial phlebitis. The ointment contains the active substance heparin sodium and should be applied thinly to the affected area 2 to 3 times a day. In the case of phlebitis, the ointment should not be rubbed in and when used under a bandage, the ointment should be applied thickly. The duration of use should not exceed 10 days. The package leaflet should be read before use and a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted in case of uncertainty. The medicinal product must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to heparin or the other ingredients. Pregnant and breastfeeding women may use this medicinal product as no harmful effects are known. Caution should be exercised if new symptoms occur which may indicate thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, and in this case a doctor should be consulted immediately. There is no information that the medicinal product impairs the ability to drive or operate machinery.
