Bisacodyl SANAVITA 10 mg suppository is a laxative for short-term use in constipation and conditions requiring easier bowel movements. It contains the active ingredient bisacodyl and belongs to the group of triarylmethanes. It is used as a laxative for adults and children from 10 years of age. It should always be used exactly according to the package leaflet or doctor's instructions. It should not be used if there is an allergy to bisacodyl or other components of the medicine, or in cases of intestinal obstruction, acute inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract or in children under 10 years of age. A doctor or pharmacist should be consulted before use, especially in children, chronic constipation or disorders of water and electrolyte balance. Side effects may include abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, nausea, local irritation and bleeding of the rectum. In rare cases, allergic reactions, short-term unconsciousness or inflammation of the colon may occur. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use. The medicine should be kept out of reach of children and protected from temperature fluctuations. The recommended dosage is 1 suppository before defecation and should not be exceeded. In the event of an overdose, a doctor should be contacted immediately and possible effects considered.
