Application

OmepraDex® 20 mg gastro-resistant hard capsules contain the active ingredient omeprazole, which belongs to the group of proton pump inhibitors.These active ingredients reduce acid production in the stomach.The preparation is used in adults for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms such as heartburn and acid reflux.

Reflux describes the backflow of stomach acid into the esophagus, which can lead to inflammation and pain.Typical symptoms include a burning pain in the chest that travels down to the throat and a sour taste in the mouth.OmepraDex® can be taken over 2 to 3 consecutive days to improve the symptoms.If the symptoms worsen or there is no improvement after 14 days, it is advisable to consult a doctor.

Each capsule contains 20 mg of omeprazole as the active ingredient.The excipients include quinoline yellow, disodium hydrogen phosphate, Eudragit L 100-55, gelatin, hypromellose, macrogol 6000, mannitol, sodium dodecyl sulfate, polysorbate 80, talc, titanium dioxide, purified water, sugar-starch pellets, corn starch, sucrose and a total of 23 mg sodium ions.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to omeprazole or any of the other ingredients.The preparation should also not be used if you are allergic to other proton pump inhibitors such as pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole or esomeprazole.It is also contraindicated to take with medicines containing nelfinavir, which is used to treat HIV-infections.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as described in the leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.If you are unsure, please ask.

The recommended dose for adults is one 20 mg capsule once daily for 14 days.If you do not feel any improvement after this period, please inform your doctor.It may be necessary to take the capsules on 2 to 3 consecutive days.

Dose adjustment is not necessary in elderly patients or in patients with impaired renal function.However, patients with impaired liver function should speak to a doctor beforehand.

If you have taken more than recommended, please contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember.However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and do not take a double dose.

Intake

It is recommended to take the capsule in the morning.You can take the capsules with or without food.Swallow the capsules whole with half a glass of water.Do not chew or crush the capsules as they contain coated pellets that protect the active ingredient from stomach acid.These pellets release the active ingredient into the intestines, where it is absorbed into your body.

If you have difficulty swallowing the capsules, you can open the capsule and swallow the contents immediately with half a glass of water.Alternatively, you can pour the contents into a glass of acidic fruit juice, applesauce, yogurt or non-carbonated water.Stir the mixture immediately before taking and drink immediately or within 30 minutes.Do not use milk or carbonated water.

Rinse the glass carefully with half a glass of water and drink it to ensure you have completely absorbed the medicine.The solid particles must not be chewed or crushed.The capsule can also be sucked and the solid particles then swallowed with half a glass of water.

Omeprazole can mask the signs of other diseases. Please tell your doctor immediately if any of the following applies to you: weight loss for no apparent reason, difficulty swallowing, stomach pain, indigestion, vomiting of food or blood, black stools, severe or persistent diarrhea, previous stomach ulcer or gastrointestinal surgery, persistent indigestion or heartburn over a long period of time, jaundice or severe liver disease, age over 55 years with new or recently changed symptoms, skin reactions after taking similar medicines, scheduled blood test(Chromogranin A).

If you develop a skin rash, especially on sun-exposed areas of your skin, please tell your doctor immediately.Don't forget to mention other adverse health effects such as joint pain.When you take omeprazole, your kidneys may become inflamed.Signs include a decreased amount of urine, blood in the urine, and hypersensitivity reactions such as fever, rash, and joint stiffness.Please report any such symptoms to your doctor.

Patients should not take omeprazole for prevention.Warnings about the excipients contained can be found in the instructions for use.

The medicine is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or use machines.However, side effects such as dizziness and blurred vision can occur.Do not drive or use machines if you are impaired.
