What is Rosacea?

Rosacea, also known as copper rose or couperose, is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that is similar to acne.Typical signs include redness on the face, especially on the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead.This redness occurs due to the expansion of fine veins in the facial skin.In addition, acne-like pimples and nodules may appear intermittently.In advanced cases, a nodular thickening of the nose may develop.

How do ichthralettes work against rosacea?

Ichthralettes contain sodium bituminosulfonate, an active ingredient from the group of dark sulfonated shale oils.This active ingredient has proven anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.Taking ichthralettes can reduce facial redness, pimples and nodules.In addition, excessive sebum formation is inhibited, which leads to an improved complexion.These effects become noticeable after about three weeks of use.

Areas of application

Ichthralettes are suitable for the treatment of rosacea, even if it is accompanied by an abnormal overproduction of sebum in the skin (seborrhea).No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each enteric-coated tablet of Ichthraletten contains 200 mg of sodium bituminosulfonate, dry substance (Ichthyol® sodium).In addition, the preparation contains white clay, lactose-1-water, copovidone, glycerol, stearic acid, colloidal silicon dioxide, talc, arabic gum, macrogol 6000, sucrose, iron oxides and hydroxides, montan glycol wax and methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1).

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, the product should not be used.

Dosage

In the first two weeks, 2 tablets are taken three times a day.From the third week onwards, the dosage is reduced to 1 tablet three times a day.Treatment should not last longer than 6 weeks as there is not yet sufficient study data for longer, uninterrupted use.The tablets should be taken before meals with a little water.

Intake

Ichthralettes are intended for oral use.The preparation should be taken whole with liquid before meals.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy you should only take this medicine if your doctor considers it clearly necessary.Long-term use should be avoided.The medicine should not be used during breast-feeding unless your doctor considers it necessary and advises you to stop breast-feeding.

Notes

Ichthralettes contain lactose and sucrose (sugar).Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
