MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray is a nasal spray that is used in adults to treat hay fever symptoms (seasonal allergic rhinitis), provided the initial diagnosis has been made by a doctor.It helps with acute and persistent discomfort caused by pollen.The spray relieves allergy symptoms such as stuffy or runny nose, itching and sneezing for up to 24 hours.

In the case of an allergy, allergens trigger an overreaction of the immune system, which releases inflammatory substances.The active ingredient mometasone in the MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray works in two ways: it relieves classic allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching and a runny nose and at the same time inhibits the release of inflammatory substances that can intensify an allergic reaction.

When does MometaHEXAL® work?

The effect of MometaHEXAL® nasal spray begins within half a day and the full effectiveness develops within two to three days.For long-term results, the spray should be used regularly and over a longer period of time.

When you should use MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray

MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray should be used if you suffer from hay fever.It is advisable to start the application a few days before the expected start of the pollen season.The usual dosage is initially 2 sprays into each nostril once a day; later the dose can be reduced to one spray per nostril.

How you should use MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray

To use the spray, you should stand up, tilt your head slightly forward and hold the bottle upright.Spray parallel to the nasal septum, not towards it.If the symptoms are relieved, you can reduce the application to 1 spray per nostril once a day.

What you should know before using MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray

Before use, a doctor should diagnose hay fever.The spray is not suitable for treating other illnesses such as colds or sinus infections.If you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient mometasone or any of the other ingredients, the medicine must not be used.Even after an injury or operation in the nose area, the spray should not be used until it has healed.

What does the MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray contain

The active ingredient in MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray is mometasone furoate, a drug from the group of glucocorticoids.Each time the pump is actuated, a spray of a measured dose of 50 micrograms of mometasone furoate is delivered.Contains as a preservative: benzalkonium chloride.The other ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose, carmellose sodium, glycerol, citric acid monohydrate, sodium citrate, polysorbate 80, benzalkonium chloride, water for injections.

Difference between hay fever and cold

Hay fever occurs at the same time every year and is caused by pollen.Typical symptoms include itching in the nose, throat and eyes, a sudden runny nose and clear nasal secretions.A cold occurs all year round, usually in winter, and is accompanied by a sore throat and tingling nose.The cold persists even in closed rooms.

MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray is an allergy spray against hay fever that is used once a day.It clears the nose and soothes the eyes, has a strong and long-lasting effect.The spray effectively combats symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, itching and sneezing while relieving eye symptoms such as tearing, itching and redness.It works for 24 hours and can be used continuously throughout the entire hay fever season.

MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray does not make you tired and there is no habituation effect.Early and regular use a few days before the pollen count ensures that the symptoms are better controlled from the start and are no longer as severe.

In people with pollen allergies, pollen triggers an overreaction of the immune system.The body first releases messenger substances such as histamine, which trigger an immediate allergic reaction.In the second phase, an inflammatory reaction follows in which various inflammatory messenger substances are released, which intensify the symptoms or make them last longer.

MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray with the active ingredient mometasone not only has an anti-allergic effect, but also inhibits the release of many inflammatory messenger substances.Unlike purely anti-allergic nasal sprays, it inhibits inflammation and thus affects both phases of the allergic reaction.

Thanks to MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray, annoying symptoms of a pollen allergy such as constant sneezing, itching and a stuffy nose can be effectively combated.

In order to master the challenges at work and in everyday life, full concentration and performance are important.Thanks to the local effect of the ingredient mometasone, the hay fever spray does not make you tired and frees the nose from allergic symptoms with just one application per day.It also relieves eye symptoms.

Mode of action

MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray contains the active ingredient mometasone furoate, a substance from the corticosteroid group.When mometasone furoate is sprayed into the nose, it can help relieve inflammation, sneezing, itching, and nasal congestion and runny nose.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the above ingredients, this product should not be used.MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray must not be used if you have recently had surgery on your nose or if it is injured.

Dosage

MometaHEXAL® hay fever spray should be used regularly once a day during the pollen season.For the first few days, give two sprays into each nostril.Once symptoms such as sneezing, runny or stuffy nose are controlled, a lower dose of one spray per nostril may be sufficient.

Tip for severe hay fever: Spray the allergy spray into your nose at the first sign of hay fever symptoms or, even better, a few days before the pollen starts.In order for the active ingredient to have an optimal effect in the nose, the correct spraying technique is important.

Step 1: Shake bottle before use.Carefully clean your nose.Then pick up the bottle and remove the protective cap.

Step 2: Now close one nostril and insert the nose piece approx. 1 cm deep into the other nostril.It is best to spray while standing and looking at your feet.Hold the bottle upright and pointing slightly outwards, not towards the nasal septum.It is best to spray into the right nostril with your left hand and vice versa.

Step 3: Inhale gently through the nose and at the same time spray 1 spray into the nose by EINMALIGES triggering the pressure mechanism.Breathe out through your mouth and repeat this step if necessary.Then apply steps 2 and 3 to the other nostril.

Intake

Preparing your nasal spray for use: Your nasal spray has a protective cap that protects the nose piece and keeps it clean.Remember to take them off before using the spray and then put them back on again.Shake the bottle before each use. Do not pierce the exit opening of the nose piece with a needle or other sharp object.

The first time you use the spray, you must prepare the bottle by pressing the spray 10 times until a fine spray is created: Shake the bottle well.Remove the plastic cap.Place your index and middle fingers on either side of the nose piece and your thumb under the bottle.Do not pierce the exit opening of the nose piece.Hold the nosepiece away from you and press down with your fingers to press the spray 10 times until a fine mist is created.

If you have not used the nasal spray for 14 days or longer, you must prepare the nasal spray again by pressing the spray twice until a fine mist is created.

How to use the nasal spray: Shake the bottle well and remove the protective cap.Gently blow your nose to clear the nostrils.Close one nostril and insert the nose piece into the other nostril.Tilt your head slightly forward and hold the bottle upright.Begin to breathe in gently through your nose and as you breathe in, spray a spray of fine mist into your nose by pressing down once with your fingers.Breathe out through your mouth.If necessary, repeat this step to administer a 2nd spray into the same nostril.Take the nosepiece out of this nostril and breathe out through your mouth.Repeat these steps for the other nostril.

After use, clean the nose piece carefully with a clean tissue and put the protective cap back on.

Cleaning your nasal spray: It is important to clean your nasal spray regularly, otherwise it may not work properly.Do not try to expand the exit opening of the nosepiece with a needle or other sharp object, as this will damage the nosepiece and prevent you from receiving the correct dose of medicine.

Warnings and precautions: Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if you have or have ever had tuberculosis, if you have any other infection, if you are using other corticosteroid medicines, both oral and injection, or if you have cystic fibrosis.

Please talk to your doctor while using the medicine if your immune system is not working well and you come into contact with people who have had measles or chickenpox, if you have an infection of the nose or throat, if you are using the medicine for several months or longer, or if you have persistent irritation of the nose or throat.

If you experience blurred vision or other vision problems, contact your doctor.When corticosteroid nasal sprays are used in high doses for long periods of time, side effects may occur from the drug absorbed into the body.If your eyes are itchy or irritated, your doctor may recommend other treatments along with mometasone furoate.

Children: When used in high doses for long periods, corticosteroid nasal sprays may cause certain side effects such as slowed growth in children.It is recommended that the height of children receiving long-term treatment with nasal corticosteroids be monitored regularly and the doctor should be informed if the child is not growing adequately.

Ability to drive and use machines: There is no information known about the influence of the drug on the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy: There is almost no information regarding the use of mometasone furoate in pregnant women.Breast-feeding: It is not known whether mometasone furoate passes into breast milk.If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
