Area of application

Cetixin 10 mg film-coated tablets are indicated for the relief of nasal and eye symptoms in seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and for the relief of hives (urticaria) in adults and children aged 6 years and over.

The active ingredient is cetirizine dihydrochloride.One film-coated tablet contains 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride, which corresponds to 8.42 mg cetirizine.The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, macrogol 4000, vegetable magnesium stearate, pre-gelatinized corn starch, polydextrose, colloidal silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide.

Contraindications

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to cetirizine, any of the other ingredients of this medicine, hydroxyzine or other piperazine derivatives.The medicine must also not be taken if you have severe kidney disease that requires dialysis.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age should take one tablet (10 mg) once daily.Children between 6 and 12 years of age should take half a tablet (5 mg) twice daily.Patients with moderate kidney failure are recommended to take 5 mg once daily.If you have severe kidney disease, your doctor should adjust the dose accordingly.

The length of time you take it depends on the type, duration and course of your symptoms.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice if you are unsure.

If you feel that the effect is too weak or too strong, please contact your doctor.

If you have taken more than you should, please tell your doctor.Your doctor will then decide what action, if any, to take.After an overdose, side effects such as confusion, diarrhea, dizziness, tiredness, headache, malaise, pupil dilation, itching, restlessness, sedation, sleepiness, drowsiness, rapid heartbeat, tremor and urinary retention may occur.

Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.

If you stop taking it, in rare cases pruritus and/or urticaria may recur.

Intake

The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of liquid.The tablet can be divided into equal doses.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine, especially if you suffer from impaired kidney function, have difficulty urinating, have epilepsy or are at risk of seizures.No clinically significant interactions have been observed between alcohol and this drug at recommended doses.However, it is recommended to avoid taking the medicine and alcohol at the same time.

Do not give this medicine to children under 6 years of age as the tablets cannot adjust the required dose.

Cetirizine dihydrochloride passes into breast milk.Side effects associated with this medicine may be seen in breast-fed infants.Therefore, until you have consulted your doctor, you should not take this medicine while breastfeeding.
