Instructions for use of Bepanthen eye and nose ointment

Bepanthen eye and nose ointment contains the active ingredient dexpanthenol.This product is available without a prescription.

Areas of application

The ointment is used to support healing of superficial, minor skin damage to the conjunctiva, cornea and nasal mucosa.It can help with dry, cracked and sore mucous membranes in the nose as well as damage to the conjunctiva and cornea in the eyes.

Mode of action

The active ingredient dexpanthenol supports wound healing in the nose and the visual organ.It penetrates the skin and accelerates the formation of new cells, allowing the skin's natural protective barrier to be rebuilt.This promotes the natural functionality of the skin and supports the healing process.

Other components

In addition to dexpanthenol, the ointment contains the following excipients: Rac-(3R)-3-hydroxy-4,4-dimethyloxolan-2-one, wool wax, thick paraffin, white petroleum jelly and purified water.

Application to the eye

Using the cannula, spread a strand of the ointment about a centimeter long into the conjunctival sac of the irritated eye.For small children and infants, use a little less ointment.Repeat the treatment several times a day.Do not use the ointment for more than a week.If your condition worsens or does not improve after four days, you should see your doctor.

Application in the nose

Apply a strand of ointment to the nasal mucosa.This should be approximately one centimeter long, correspondingly less for infants and small children.You can massage the ointment in by pressing the nostrils.Do not use the ointment on the organ of vision after using it in the nose.After four weeks you should no longer use the nasal ointment due to its shelf life.See your doctor if you notice your symptoms getting worse or not improving after a week.
