ratioAllerg® hay fever spray is a nasal spray that is used for the short-term symptomatic treatment of hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) in adults.The active ingredient beclometasone dipropionate helps to reduce the inflammatory reactions in the nose and thus alleviate the symptoms.It is important to note that this spray is not intended for immediate relief of acute symptoms but should be used regularly to improve underlying disorders.

Application and dosage

The spray is used twice a day, morning and evening, with two sprays in each nostril.This corresponds to a daily dose of 0.2 mg beclometasone dipropionate.As soon as symptoms improve, the dose should be reduced to the lowest possible level.The maximum daily dose should not be more than 0.4 mg (8 single doses).

Before use, the nose should be cleaned by blowing your nose gently.Hold the nose tube upright and carefully insert it into the nostril.Press the handle down firmly once and breathe in slowly through your nose.Repeat this process for the other nostril.After use, you should carefully wipe the nose tube and put the protective cap back on.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in ratioAllerg® hay fever spray is beclometasone dipropionate, which is contained in a concentration of 0.05 mg per spray.The other ingredients include benzalkonium chloride (0.1 mg/ml) as a preservative, polysorbate 80, D-glucose, microcrystalline cellulose, carmellose sodium, purified water and sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid for pH adjustment.

Contraindications and precautions

ratioAllerg® hay fever spray must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to beclometasone dipropionate or any of the other ingredients.Patients with nose or sinus infections, pulmonary tuberculosis, nasal septal ulcers, after nasal surgery or nasal injuries should not use the spray.It is not suitable for children and young people under 18 years of age.

The spray should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, as there is insufficient experience.During breastfeeding, use should only be carried out after careful consideration of the benefits and risks, as glucocorticoids can pass into breast milk.

Side effects

Possible side effects include irritation of the nose and throat, smell or taste disorders, gastrointestinal complaints, nausea, headaches, dizziness and runny nose.If used for a long time, preservatives such as benzalkonium chloride can cause swelling of the nasal mucosa.

Storage

Keep ratioAllerg® hay fever spray out of the reach of children and do not store it above 30 °C.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and bottle label.Do not throw away medicines in the wastewater, but ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine.
