What is MometaDex nasal spray used for?

MometaDex Nasal Spray is used to treat the symptoms of hay fever (also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis) in adults, provided the hay fever has been initially diagnosed by a doctor.Hay fever, which occurs at certain times of the year, is an allergic reaction caused by inhaling pollen from trees, grasses, weeds or even mold and fungal spores.MometaDex Nasal Spray reduces the swelling and irritation in your nose, relieving sneezing, itching, and a stuffy or runny nose caused by hay fever.

Ingredients of MometaDex Nasal Spray: 0.052 mg mometasone furoate 1-water, 0.041 mg mometasone, 0.05 mg mometasone furoate, carmellose, sodium salt excipient, cellulose, microcrystalline excipient, citric acid 1-water excipient, glycerol excipient, sodium citrate excipient, polysorbate 80 excipient, water, purified excipient,0.02 mg benzalkonium chloride excipient.

Contraindications

MometaDex Nasal Spray must not be used if you are allergic to mometasone furoate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The nasal spray should also not be used if you have an untreated infection in the nose, such as herpes, as it can make the infection worse.Wait for the infection to clear before starting use.Likewise, the nasal spray should not be used if you have recently had nasal surgery or suffered a nasal injury.Do not start using until your nose has healed.

Dosage

The recommended dose is two sprays into each nostril once daily.Once your symptoms are under control, your doctor may advise you to reduce your dose.If there is no improvement, you should see your doctor who may order you to increase the dose.The maximum daily dose is four sprays into each nostril once daily.

Intake

Preparing your nasal spray for use: Your nasal spray has a protective cap that protects the nasal olive and keeps it clean.Be sure to take them off before using the spray and then put them back on again.The first time you use the spray, you will need to prepare the bottle by pumping 10 times until a fine spray is created.Shake the bottle gently and place your index and middle fingers on either side of the nosepiece and your thumb under the bottle.Point the nasal olive away from you and press your fingers down to pump up the spray.If you have not used the nasal spray for 14 days or longer, you will need to prepare the nasal spray again by pressing the spray twice until a fine mist is created.

How to use your nasal spray?Shake the bottle slightly and remove the protective cap.Blow your nose gently.Hold one nostril closed and insert the nasal olive into the other nostril.Tilt your head slightly forward while continuing to hold the bottle upright.Begin to breathe in gently through your nose.As you breathe in, spray a spray of fine mist into your nose by pressing down once with your fingers.Breathe out through your mouth.Repeat this step to deliver a second spray into the same nostril if necessary.Pull the nasal olive out of this nostril and breathe out through the mouth.Repeat these steps with the other nostril.After use, clean the nosepiece with a clean handkerchief or cloth and put the protective cap back on.

Cleaning the nasal spray: The nasal spray must be cleaned regularly, otherwise it may not work properly.To do this, remove the protective cap and carefully pull off the nosepiece.Clean the nosepiece and the protective cap with warm water and then rinse both under running water.Do not try to open the nostril exit opening with a needle or sharp object, as this will damage the nostril and prevent you from receiving the correct dose of medicine.Allow the nosepiece and protective cap to dry in a warm place.Put the nosepiece and then the protective cap back on the bottle. The nasal spray must be prepared with 2 sprays before the first use after cleaning.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this nasal spray if you have or have had tuberculosis in the past, if you have another infection, if you are taking other corticosteroid-containing medicines, both oral and injection, or if you have cystic fibrosis (cystic fibrosis).Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist while using this product if your immune system is not working properly and you come into contact with people who have had measles or chickenpox, if you have an infection of the nose or throat, if you are using the medicine for several months or longer, or if you have persistent irritation of the nose or throat.Contact your doctor if you experience blurred vision or other vision problems.If your eyes are itchy or irritated, your doctor may recommend using other treatments along with this nasal spray.The medicine must not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

There is no information available on the effects of the preparation on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.There is little information about the use of the product in pregnant women.It is not known whether mometasone furoate passes into breast milk.
