CetiDex® for allergies

Cetirizine is a commonly used drug to relieve allergy symptoms.As a second-generation antihistamine, it is better tolerated than first-generation agents.CetiDex® 10 mg helps to cope with everyday life more easily despite seasonal or year-round allergies.It relieves eye and nose symptoms associated with hay fever or dust and pet allergies, as well as skin symptoms such as hives.

Mode of action

The active ingredient cetirizine suppresses the effects of the body's own messenger substances histamine and prostaglandins.It inhibits the release of these substances from the mast cells and displaces them from their binding sites.This prevents the forwarding of information.Histamine and prostaglandins play an important role in inflammation and allergic reactions.

10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride, 8.42 mg cetirizine, hypromellose, 65 mg lactose 1-water, macrogol 6000, magnesium stearate, corn starch, pre-gelatinized corn starch, talc, titanium dioxide.

Area of application

Cetirizine dihydrochloride is the active ingredient of the preparation and acts as an anti-allergic agent.It is indicated for the relief of nasal and ocular symptoms in seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and for the relief of chronic hives in adults and children aged 6 years and over.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you have severe kidney disease or are hypersensitive to the active ingredient, any of the other ingredients, hydroxyzine or other piperazine derivatives.

Dosage

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age take one tablet once a day.Children between 6 and 12 years old take half a tablet twice daily.Patients with moderate to severe kidney failure are recommended to take 5 mg once daily.The duration of use depends on the type, duration and course of the symptoms.In case of overdose you should contact your doctor.

Intake

The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of liquid.They can be taken with or without food.

Patient information

Particular caution is required if you have impaired kidney function, epilepsy or risk of seizures.It is recommended to avoid taking it at the same time as alcohol.If an allergy test is scheduled, you should stop taking the medication a few days beforehand.The ability to drive and use machines may be affected, so you should monitor your reaction carefully.

Pregnancy

Taking the preparation should be avoided by pregnant women.The medicine should not be taken during breastfeeding as cetirizine passes into breast milk.

Notes

Application

The recommended dose for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is 10 mg once daily as one tablet.Children between 6 and 12 years of age take 5 mg as half a tablet twice daily.The tablet can be divided into equal doses.The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of liquid.The length of time you take it depends on the type, duration and course of your symptoms.Please ask your doctor for advice.
