CetiDex 10 mg film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride and are used to relieve nasal and ocular symptoms of seasonal and perennial rhinitis and symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria. The tablets work by inhibiting the release of histamine in the body. This helps to relieve allergic symptoms such as a runny or stuffy nose, itchy eyes and hives. Cetirizine hydrochloride is a second-generation antihistamine and is also used to treat allergies to house dust and animal dander. The medicine can be taken by adults and children aged 6 years and over. The recommended dosage is one tablet once a day for adults and half a tablet twice a day for children aged 6 to 12 years. In cases of impaired kidney function, half a tablet once a day is recommended. In severe kidney disease, the dosage should be determined by the doctor. The duration of use should be in consultation with a doctor. If there is no improvement after three days, medical advice and the package leaflet should be followed. The medicine contains lactose and must not be taken if there is an allergy to any of the ingredients.
