Bisacodyl SANAVITA 10 mg suppository is a laxative used for short-term treatment of constipation and diseases requiring easier bowel movements. It contains the active ingredient bisacodyl and belongs to the group of triarylmethanes. The medicine is applied as a suppository and takes effect about 10 to 30 minutes after application. The recommended dose is 1 suppository per day for adults and children 10 years and older. It is inserted into the rectum. The duration of use should be short and prolonged use should only be done under medical supervision. Side effects may include abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, nausea, local irritation and bleeding of the rectum. The medicine must not be used in case of allergy to bisacodyl, intestinal obstruction and in children under 10 years of age. Pregnant women should consult their doctor before use.
