Information for use on the article Iberogast Classic - for acute gastrointestinal complaints: Iberogast Classic is a herbal medicinal product for the treatment of functional and motility-related gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable stomach syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome and for the supportive treatment of the symptoms of inflammation of the gastric mucosa (gastritis). It relieves symptoms such as stomach pain, bloating, flatulence, gastrointestinal cramps, nausea and heartburn. The liquid tincture contains nine medicinal plant extracts that have an anti-inflammatory effect, can relax the gastrointestinal muscles, relieve pain and cramps, reduce flatulence and calm inflammation. The dosage varies according to age: children from 3 to 5 years take 10 drops three times a day, children from 6 to 12 years take 15 drops, and adolescents from 13 years and adults take 20 drops. Take before or with meals with some liquid. It should not be used for more than one week without medical advice. The medicine must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, liver disease, children under 3 years of age, pregnant and breastfeeding women. Possible side effects include liver damage and liver failure. Caution should also be used in case of allergies to certain spices and plants, as well as when taking large amounts of alcohol. It is stored away from heat and will keep for up to eight weeks after the bottle has been opened. The medicine is manufactured by Bayer and is available without a prescription.
