Application

Esomeprazole TAD® 20 mg for heartburn Enteric-coated hard capsules are used for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms such as heartburn and acid reflux in adults.The active ingredient esomeprazole belongs to the group of proton pump inhibitors and reduces acid production in the stomach.This reduces the acidity in the stomach and thus prevents the unpleasant burning sensation in the esophagus.The medicine does not work immediately and it may take 2 to 3 days for symptoms to improve.The duration of treatment is up to 14 days.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

Reflux describes the backflow of stomach acid into the esophagus, which can lead to inflammation and pain.Typical symptoms include a painful feeling in the chest that goes up into the throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).Esomeprazole is not intended for immediate relief.You may need to take the tablets for 2 to 3 consecutive days before you feel better.If you don't feel better or feel worse after 14 days, contact your doctor.

Each hard capsule contains 20 mg of esomeprazole as the active ingredient.The other ingredients include 43.38 mg esomeprazole hemimagnesium 1 water, iron (III) oxide, Eudragit L 30 D-55, gelatin, macrogol 3000, macrogol 6000, magnesium carbonate, heavy, basic, sodium dodecyl sulfate, poly (vinyl alcohol), polysorbate 80, povidone K30, talc, titanium dioxide,Sugar-starch pellets, corn starch, sucrose and 23 mg total sodium ion.

Contraindications

Do not take Esomeprazole if you are allergic to Esomeprazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.You should also not take esomeprazole if you are allergic to other proton pump inhibitors such as pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole or omeprazole.Esomeprazole is also not suitable if you are taking a medicine that contains nelfinavir, which is used to treat an HIV-infection.Do not take esomeprazole if any of the above apply to you.If you are unsure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.The recommended dose is one hard capsule per day.Do not take more than the recommended dose of one hard capsule (20 mg) per day, even if you do not notice immediate improvement.You may need to take the hard capsules for 2 to 3 consecutive days before your reflux symptoms improve.The duration of treatment is up to 14 days.Stop taking this medicine when you are completely free of symptoms.If your reflux symptoms worsen or do not improve after taking this medicine for 14 consecutive days, contact your doctor.If you have persistent or long-lasting symptoms that recur regularly even after treatment with this medicine, you should contact your doctor.

If you have taken more than recommended, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.Symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, nausea, vomiting and weakness may occur.If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember on the same day.Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.If you have any further questions about taking this medicine, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Intake

You can take your hard capsule at any time of the day, either with food or on an empty stomach.Swallow your hard capsule whole with a glass of water.The hard capsule must not be chewed or crushed.This is important because the hard capsule contains coated pellets that prevent the acid from breaking down the medicine in the stomach.It is important that the pellets are not damaged.Alternatively, you can open the hard capsule and add the pellets to a glass of still (non-carbonated) water.Do not use other liquids.Drink the liquid immediately or within 30 minutes.Always stir the mixture immediately before drinking.To make sure you have drunk the entire mixture, rinse the glass by filling it half full with water and drink it.Do not chew or crush the solid components.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking esomeprazole if you have had a stomach ulcer or stomach surgery in the past, have been on ongoing treatment for reflux or heartburn for 4 or more weeks, have jaundice or serious liver problems, have serious kidney problems, are over 55 years of age and have experienced new or recently changed reflux symptoms, or you need to take non-prescription medicines every day to treat indigestion or heartburn, ever as a result of treatmentwith a medicine comparable to esomeprazole for heartburn, which also reduces stomach acid, you have noticed skin reactions or you are scheduled to have a certain blood test (chromogranin A).If you develop a skin rash, especially on sun-exposed areas, tell your doctor immediately as you may need to stop taking the medicine.Don't forget to mention other adverse health effects such as joint pain.Tell your doctor immediately before or after taking this medicine if you notice any of the following symptoms, which may be signs of other, more serious illnesses: you lose a lot of weight for no apparent reason, you have problems or pain when swallowing, you get stomach pain or signs of indigestion such as nausea, bloating, flatulence, especially after eating, you start to vomit food or blood, which may look like dark coffee grounds in the vomit, you pass black stools (bloody stools), youhave severe or persistent diarrhea.Seek immediate medical attention if you experience chest pain with dizziness, sweating, dizziness, or shoulder pain with shortness of breath.This could be a sign of serious heart disease.Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you are scheduled to have an endoscopy or urea breath test, or if you are scheduled to have a certain blood test (chromogranin A).If any of the above apply to you (or you are unsure), contact your doctor immediately.This medicine should not be used by children and adolescents under 18 years of age.The likelihood that esomeprazole will affect your ability to drive or use machines is small.However, side effects such as dizziness and blurred vision may occasionally occur.If you are affected, you should not drive or operate machines.

Pregnancy

Notes

Contains sucrose (sugar).Only take the product after consulting a doctor if you have an intolerance to certain sugars.If freedom from symptoms is not achieved within 2 weeks of continuous treatment, the person treating the patient should be instructed to seek medical advice.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
