Jarsin 450 mg film-coated tablets contain the active substance dry extract of St. John's wort and are used to treat mild depressive episodes. There are some important instructions to follow when using this medicine. People who are allergic to St. John's wort, soya, peanuts or any of the ingredients of the medicine should not take it. Likewise, it is unsuitable for people with known photosensitivity of the skin and severe depressive disorders. The medicine must also not be used at the same time as certain other medicines, such as immunosuppressants, HIV-medicines, cytostatics and anticoagulants. Before taking Jarsin 450 mg, women taking hormonal contraceptives should consult their doctor as intermittent bleeding may occur. It is recommended to avoid intensive UV-irradiation during use. The dosage for adolescents 12 years and older and adults is usually one tablet twice daily. It should be taken with sufficient liquid and preferably with meals. The duration of treatment is usually 4-6 weeks. If symptoms persist or worsen, a doctor should be consulted. Side effects may include allergic skin reactions, fatigue, restlessness and gastrointestinal complaints. If side effects occur, a doctor should be contacted. The medicinal product should not be used in children under 12 years of age. It is not recommended for use during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Store at room temperature, not above 25°C. Due to possible interactions with other medicines and individual patient needs, the medicine should always be taken as directed by a doctor or pharmacist.
