Legalon® forte Madaus is a herbal medicine used for liver diseases.It is made from the fruits of milk thistle (Silybum marianum), a plant that was already used as a medicine in the Middle Ages.No prescription is required for this product.

Legalon® forte Madaus hard capsules are used to support the treatment of chronic inflammatory liver diseases, liver cirrhosis and toxic liver damage.They strengthen and support liver function, help with metabolism and detoxification and protect against radicals.They also improve the liver's ability to heal itself and can increase its performance.

Mode of action

The effect of Legalon® forte Madaus hard capsules is based on the silymarin extract from milk thistle.This extract is quickly available in the liver and activates metabolic processes.It strengthens the liver cell membranes, protects them from attacks by free radicals and supports detoxification of the liver.The extract also helps to protect the liver from further stress and attacks from harmful substances, environmental toxins, certain medications, viruses and bacteria.This leads to increased vitality and quality of life.

The active ingredient in Legalon® forte Madaus hard capsules is milk thistle fruit dry extract.One hard capsule contains 173.0 - 186.7 mg dry extract of milk thistle fruit, which corresponds to 108 mg silymarin (HPLC) and 140 mg silymarin (DNPH), calculated as silibinin.Ethyl acetate 98% (V/V) is used as an extractant.

The other ingredients are corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, poly(O-carboxymethyl) starch, sodium salt, sodium dodecyl sulfate, magnesium stearate, gelatin, titanium dioxide E 171, iron (III) oxide E 172 and iron(II,III) oxide E 172.

Contraindications

Legalon® forte Madaus hard capsules should not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.The product is not indicated for acute poisoning.

Dosage

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over take 1 capsule of Legalon® forte Madaus hard capsules with liquid 3 times a day.

Intake

The hard capsules should be swallowed whole with a little liquid before eating.

Patient information

Drug therapy does not replace avoiding the causes that damage the liver, such as alcohol.Particular caution is required in the event of jaundice, in which case a doctor should be consulted.There are no sufficient studies on use in children under 12 years of age, so its use is not recommended.No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.The safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been adequately studied.It is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
