Description of the preparation

This herbal medicine contains a dry extract of Ginkgo biloba leaves.It is used to support age-related cognitive impairment and to improve quality of life in mild dementia.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The preparation contains 240 mg ginkgo leaf dry extract, prepared with acetone 60% (m/m) as an extractant.The most important active ingredients are ginkgo flavonoid glycosides, ginkgolides A+B+C, bilobalides and ginkgolic acids.The excipients included are: cellulose, microcrystalline, croscarmellose sodium salt, iron (III) hydroxide oxide x-water, spray-dried glucose syrup, lactose 1-water, macrogol 3350, magnesium stearate, poly(vinyl alcohol), highly dispersed silicon dioxide, talc and titanium dioxide.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to Ginkgo biloba extract or any of the other ingredients.It is also not permitted to be taken during pregnancy.

Dosage and application

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.The recommended dose for adults and elderly patients is half a film-coated tablet twice daily, morning and evening.If taken once daily, this should be done in the morning or evening.Children and adolescents should not take the product as there is no relevant indication for this age group.There are no data on dosing in impaired kidney or liver function.

Treatment should last at least 8 weeks.If there is no improvement in symptoms after 3 months or if the symptoms of the disease worsen, the doctor should reconsider continuing treatment.There are no specific cases known in the event of an overdose, but increased symptoms may occur.In this case you should contact your doctor.If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose.

Directions for use

The film-coated tablets are taken orally and should be swallowed whole with liquid, preferably a glass of drinking water.It can be taken regardless of meals.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have an abnormal tendency to bleed, are taking blood-thinning medication, suffer from epilepsy, are planning to have an operation in the next 3 to 4 days or are taking efavirenz.If symptoms worsen during treatment, please inform your doctor or pharmacist.

There have been no adequate studies on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines.Your doctor will tell you whether your illness allows you to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Since there is evidence that preparations containing ginkgo could increase the risk of bleeding, this medicine must not be taken during pregnancy.The medicine should not be used during breastfeeding as there are no sufficient studies available.
