Area of application

This preparation is an over-the-counter medicine that is used as a broad-spectrum antifungal for the treatment of fungal diseases of the nails.It is used when the nail root is not affected.The active ingredient amorolfine fights a variety of fungi that can cause nail fungal infections.The product is suitable for treating nail fungus, which affects up to 80% of the nail, especially in the front area.

The nail polish contains 50 mg of amorolfine per milliliter, in the form of amorolfine hydrochloride.The following excipients are also included: ethanol, ethyl acetate, Eudragit RL, n-butyl acetate and triacetin.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to amorolfine or any of the other ingredients.

Dosage

Always use the medicine exactly as directed.If you are unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.Unless otherwise prescribed, apply the medicine to the affected fingernails or toenails once a week.Treatment should be continued until the diseased nails grow back healthy.

Fungal infections are often persistent and require ongoing treatment.The duration is usually 6 months for fingernails and 9 to 12 months for toenails, depending on the degree of infestation.The nail growth rate is around 1 to 2 mm per month.

If you accidentally swallow the nail polish, seek medical help immediately.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if the effect is too strong or too weak.If you have any further questions about use, please contact your doctor or pharmacy.

Application

Before the first use, the affected parts of the nail surfaces should be filed down.For further applications you can re-file as needed.Before each use, clean the nail surface with an alcohol swab and remove any polish residue.Remove the nail polish with one of the spatulas provided and apply it evenly to the entire surface of the diseased nail.Close the bottle immediately after use to avoid drying out.Allow treated nails to dry for 10 minutes.After use, clean the spatula with an alcohol swab or a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover.

Use separate disposable files to treat diseased nails to avoid infection of healthy nails.When working with organic solvents, wear impervious gloves to protect the paint layer.

Patient information

Special care is required to avoid infection of healthy nails.There is no experience with use in infants, children and adolescents.Avoid contact with eyes, ears and mucous membranes.No artificial nails should be used during application.Patients working with organic solvents must wear impermeable gloves to protect the lacquer layer.

The preparation has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.There is only limited experience with the use of nail polish during pregnancy and breastfeeding.This product should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly necessary.
