Voltaren pain gel 1.16% gel contains the active ingredient diclofenac-N-ethylethanamine.It is suitable for the symptomatic treatment of pain in acute strains, sprains or bruises as a result of blunt trauma, such as those that can arise from sports or accident injuries.It can also be used for pain in the soft tissues near the joints, such as bursa, tendons, tendon sheaths, ligaments, muscle attachments and joint capsules, for osteoarthritis of the knee and finger joints, for epicondylitis and for acute muscle pain in the back area.It is suitable for young people aged 14 and over for short-term treatment of acute bruises, strains or sprains.

Advantages and application

The Voltaren pain gel with comfort applicator offers easy and hygienic use.The applicator allows you to apply the gel directly to the painful area without your hands coming into contact with the gel.The gel has a non-greasy formulation and is quickly absorbed, providing a pleasant cooling effect.It can be used three to four times a day, with a cherry to walnut-sized amount being sufficient.Application should be on uninjured skin and the gel should take effect before clothing is worn.

Active ingredients and ingredients

1 g Voltaren pain gel with EASY applicator, with diclofenac (pack size: 100 g) contains the active ingredient diclofenac-N-ethylethanamine 11.6 mg in 1 g gel (corresponding to 10 mg diclofenac sodium).The other ingredients are purified water, 2-propanol, propylene glycol, cocoyl caprylocaprate (Ph.Eur.), paraffin, cetomacrogol, carbomer 974 P, N-ethylethanamine and perfume cream (contains benzyl benzoate).

Contraindications

The product should not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients or in case of hypersensitivity to other medicines used to treat pain, fever or inflammation, such as ibuprofen or acetylsalicylic acid.Patients sensitive to acetylsalicylic acid and other NSAIDs should not use the product.It should not be used on open injuries, inflammation or infections of the skin, as well as on eczema or mucous membranes.It is also not suitable for use during pregnancy or for children and adolescents under 14 years of age.

Dosage and instructions for use

Voltaren pain gel can be applied three to four times a day, depending on the intensity of the pain.It should be used over a period of 1-3 weeks, depending on the underlying disease.If the symptoms do not improve within three to five days or even worsen, it is advisable to see a doctor.The gel should be applied thinly to the affected area of the body and rubbed in lightly.Hands should be washed afterwards unless they are the area to be treated.

Patient information

When used over large areas and over a longer period of time, the occurrence of side effects cannot be ruled out.A dressing, but not an occlusive dressing, may be used.Before applying a bandage, the gel should dry on the skin for a few minutes.Particular caution is required in acute conditions with severe redness, swelling or overheating of joints, persistent joint problems or severe back pain that radiates to the legs and/or is associated with neurological deficits.In these cases, a doctor should be consulted.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.In the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, the product should only be used after consulting a doctor.The product must not be used in the last trimester of pregnancy as an increased risk of complications for mother and child cannot be ruled out.Diclofenac passes into breast milk in small amounts.The medicine should only be used during breastfeeding after consulting your doctor.
