Pollicrom® nasal spray offers gentle and lasting relief from symptoms of allergic rhinitis.It prevents the release of histamine and intervenes early in the allergy mechanism.The product is free of preservatives and phosphates, well tolerated and suitable for adults and children without age restrictions.

How often should Pollicrom® nasal spray be used?
Pollicrom® nasal spray with the active ingredient sodium cromoglicate is suitable as basic protection for allergies with nasal complaints.Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, adults and children give 1 spray into each nostril 4 times daily.If necessary, the daily dose can be increased, but the frequency of application of 1 spray 6 times a day must not be exceeded.If symptoms improve, the daily dose can be gradually reduced. However, the treatment should be continued even after the symptoms have subsided for as long as you are exposed to the allergy-causing substances (pollen, house dust, cat hair, etc.), but not longer than 6 months at a time.

When should I start treatment with Pollicrom® nasal spray?
The onset of action of the cromoglicic acid contained is somewhat delayed compared to azelastine, as histamine that has already been released must first be broken down and transported away.It is therefore recommended to start treatment about two weeks before the expected allergy season.In the case of hay fever, a pollen count calendar provides information about when the acute phase of certain types of pollen begins.For people with house dust allergies, medicines containing cromoglicic acid can provide helpful basic protection when staying in a new environment (e.g. on vacation).

How do hay fever and other allergies even come about?
Unfortunately, how allergies arise has not yet been fully researched.However, science assumes that harmful environmental influences and hereditary predisposition play an important role.What is certain, however, is that the allergy is caused by an incorrect immune system reaction.The immune system sees a harmless substance as dangerous and sets off a defense mechanism.This happens in two steps: In the first phase, the so-called sensitization, a substance - the allergen - is classified as an enemy.To combat it, the immune system produces certain antibodies.For us, the sensitization phase takes place undetected and without any symptoms.In phase two, each further contact with the allergen causes the antibodies to release allergy-triggering messenger substances such as:B. release histamines and thus cause a defensive reaction such as sneezing or itching.If this occurs immediately after contact with the allergen, as in the case of a pollen, house dust or animal hair allergy, it is also referred to as an immediate type reaction.

What can I do to make hay fever season easier for my child?
If it is known which tree or grass pollen your child is allergic to, the acute phase can be determined using a pollen count calendar.In order to prevent symptoms as much as possible, the timely use of Pollicrom® nasal spray and Pollicrom® eye drops can be helpful.In addition, the following measures can make allergy season more bearable for your child:

• During the acute phase, the child should rarely go outside to avoid excessive exposure to allergens.The ideal time to play outdoors is after a downpour.

• Keep windows and doors closed.For ventilation, it is advisable to use rainy days and otherwise the time with the lowest pollen concentration: in the city this is generally in the morning, in the country in the evening.

• Wipe the floors with a damp cloth frequently; carpets and upholstered furniture should be thoroughly vacuumed regularly.

• If feasible, declare the child's room a pollen-free zone: clothing worn outside should be removed before entering and not stored in the child's room.

• Wash your child's hair before bed.This means that pollen that is caught in the hair is washed away and doesn't get into the bed.

• Children with hay fever can also react allergically to certain foods, for example, if they are allergic to grass pollen, to tomatoes and melons.If there are signs of such a cross allergy, such foods should no longer be on the menu in the future.

Area of application

Pollicrom® nasal spray is a medicine for allergic rhinitis.It is used for year-round allergic rhinitis (rhinitis), allergic reactions, allergic runny nose and hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis).No prescription is required for this product.

Note: For some patients, additional administration of decongestant nasal drops or systemic anti-allergic medication may be useful at the beginning of treatment.Please discuss with your doctor whether this applies to you.

Ingredients of Pollicrom® Nasal Spray: 20 mg cromoglicic acid, disodium salt, 18.28 mg cromoglicic acid, disodium edetate 2-water as an excipient, sorbitol as an excipient, purified water as an excipient.

Contraindications

Pollicrom® nasal spray must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to sodium cromoglicate (Ph.Eur.) or any of the other ingredients of the drug.Even if an allergic reaction is suspected, renewed contact should be avoided at all costs.

Dosage

Recommended use of Pollicrom® nasal spray: Adults and children give 1 spray into each nostril up to 4 times a day.The daily dose can be increased if necessary; the frequency of use should not exceed 1 spray into each nostril 6 times a day.

1. The preparation is only intended for local use in the nose.

2. Operate the spray mechanism until a fine mist emerges.

3. Then insert the spray opening into one nostril and spray once.Breathe in gently through your nose while spraying.To prevent the solution from crystallizing in the pump mechanism, the protective cover should be put back on after each use.

After a good response and stabilization of symptoms during therapy with this preparation, you can reduce the frequency of use as long as freedom from symptoms is maintained.

Duration of use: Regular daily use is required as the preparation does not have an immediate effect.Pollicrom® nasal spray is only suitable for prevention.Therefore, once the symptoms have subsided, the treatment should be continued for as long as you are exposed to the allergens (pollen, house dust, mold spores, food allergens).The therapy effect must be monitored regularly.However, the dosing intervals can also be extended after the therapeutic effect has been achieved, as long as freedom from symptoms is maintained.

The preparation is only intended for local use in the nose.

How to use the nasal spray: Remove the protective cap.Gently blow your nose to clear the nostrils.Close one nostril and insert the nose piece into the other nostril.Tilt your head slightly forward and hold the bottle upright.Then insert the spray opening of the fine dispenser into the nostril and press firmly once on the spray mechanism.Repeat this step for the other nostril.

There are no known special precautionary measures.Driving and using machines: No special precautions are required.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy: There is no evidence of a teratogenic effect of the preparation either from animal studies or from previous experience with humans.However, for fundamental reasons, you should only use the product during pregnancy if the doctor considers it necessary.

Breastfeeding: The active ingredient in the preparation passes into breast milk in small quantities.Therefore, you should only use the product during breastfeeding if the doctor considers it necessary.

Application

1. Remove the protective cap before use.

2. Operate the pump until the solution comes out (usually 1 to 2 times).The system is now ready for use for any further application.

3. Insert the spray opening into the nostril and pump once.Breathe in gently.Repeat the process on the other nostril.

4. After use, always wipe the nasal adapter with a clean tissue to reduce the risk of infection the next time you use it.Then close with a protective cap.
