PROSTUROL® Suppositories are intended for the soothing and softening local treatment of the anorectal canal in cases of congestion associated with acute and chronic prostatitis and benign prostate enlargement.No prescription is required for this product.

Prostate inflammation: bacterial or non-bacterial origin

Acute bacterial prostatitis is caused by bacteria and manifests itself as burning when urinating, frequent urination with a weakened urine stream, pain in the bladder region and perineal area, as well as fever and chills.These symptoms as well as tactile and bacterial findings enable a relatively reliable diagnosis.Treatment is usually successful with antibiotics.However, more than 90% of inflammations are chronic nonbacterial prostatitis, in which no bacteria can be identified as the pathogen and fever and chills do not occur.

The trigger for chronic abacterial prostatitis usually remains unclear.In addition to the painful and difficult urination, a variety of other symptoms can occur, including a feeling of pressure and pain in the pubic bone region and in the lower abdomen, a feeling of pressure and pain in the perineal area, diffuse abdominal pain, pulling and pain in the groin, pain in the bladder region after urination, abnormal sensations or pain in the testicles, painful ejaculation as well as erectile dysfunction and loss of libido.

If you experience one or more of these symptoms, you should seek medical advice so that the symptoms can be clarified in detail.If your doctor diagnoses chronic abacterial prostatitis, he or she will initiate appropriate therapeutic measures.The quicker prostatitis is detected, the better.

The ingredients of PROSTUROL® suppositories are pumpkin seeds, Indian pennywort, frankincense, strawflower, vitamin E acetate, Australian tea tree, hyaluronic acid sodium salt and semi-synthetic glycerides.

Application

Use one suppository per day, preferably in the evening before bed or as recommended by your doctor.Remove the suppository by pulling on the two pre-embossed wings of the blister foil.Insert the suppository rectally.Wash your hands before and after using the medical device.

The duration of use depends on the improvement in your symptoms.If necessary, you can use PROSTUROL® suppositories over a longer period of time.

Contraindications

Do not use the product if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.

Notes

There are no known interactions with other products.However, it is advisable to consult your doctor before using PROSTUROL® suppositories together with other medical devices or medicines for rectal use.

All locally applied products can lead to sensitization of the treated mucous membranes, especially if used for a long time.Stop treatment if you notice this and see your doctor to discuss treatment alternatives.If you have any undesirable side effects, please inform your doctor or pharmacist.

Keep the product out of the reach of children.Avoid contact with eyes.The product must not be swallowed.The expiry date refers to the shelf life of the product if the packaging is undamaged and stored correctly.Do not use the product after the expiry date or if the packaging is opened or damaged.

Store the medical device protected from light and heat, preferably at a temperature between 4°C and 25°C. Medical devices should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste.Ask your pharmacy about how to properly dispose of medical devices you no longer need to protect the environment.
