Ingredients and production

The medicinally interesting plant substance of the camphor tree (Cinnamomum camphora) is camphor oil.This is obtained from the wood of the camphor tree by steam distillation or is now usually produced synthetically.The ingredients of camphor spirit are alcohol, aqua and camphor.

Effect and application

Camphor has blood circulation-promoting, pain-relieving, local anesthetic, expectorant-promoting, itching-relieving and disinfecting properties.Camphor is therefore used for inflammation of the respiratory tract such as bronchitis and coughs, colds and flu-like infections, as well as muscle and joint pain and tension.

Camphor spirit should be applied to the skin once or several times a day.Only healthy skin should be treated and not large areas.Wash your hands thoroughly after use.

Notes

Camphor spirit 10% should under no circumstances be used on babies and small children.There is a danger to life due to cramping respiratory muscles.Hypersensitivity reactions, allergic contact dermatitis and local skin irritation may occur.The camphor spirit is not intended for ingestion and should be kept out of the reach of small children.

In case of contact with eyes, rinse them thoroughly.Caution is advised in respiratory diseases such as bronchial asthma, pneumonia and COPD , as camphor can cause spasms in the bronchial muscles.
