Biotin beta® 5 tablets are a vitamin preparation that is used to prevent and treat biotin deficiency.Biotin, also known as vitamin B7 or vitamin H, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays an important role in skin, hair and nails.It is an essential cofactor for the formation of numerous enzymes and plays a central role in various metabolic processes.

Area of application

Biotin beta® 5 tablets are used to prevent and treat biotin deficiency.This also includes the treatment of biotin deficiency in the very rare biotin-dependent multiple carboxylase deficiency.For prevention, less than 0.2 mg of biotin per day is sufficient.

Mode of action

Biotin is involved in many metabolic processes, including carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism.It promotes cell growth and the formation of new hair roots and nail beds.Biotin activates the metabolism and thus supports the health of skin, hair and nails.

Biotin beta® 5 tablets contain biotin as the active ingredient.One tablet contains 5 mg of biotin.The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone, povidone K 30 and magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Biotin beta® 5 tablets must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to biotin or any of the other ingredients of the drug.

Dosage

The recommended dose for the prevention and treatment of biotin deficiency and for the treatment of multiple carboxylase deficiency is 1 to 2 tablets (corresponding to 5 to 10 mg of biotin) daily.For lower dosages, preparations with a lower biotin content are available.

The preparation is taken until the biotin levels in the blood normalize.The duration of use depends on the course of the underlying disease.In the very rare case of biotin-dependent, multiple carboxylase deficiency, it is taken for life.

Intake

Take the tablets whole with enough liquid, such as a glass of water.
