Directions for use of the article Sterolsan Tablets: Sterolsan tablets are a lipid binder for weight reduction and weight control with an LDL-accompanying cholesterol-lowering effect. They reduce the digestibility of lipids by physical binding, leading to reduced calorie intake. Sterolsan is intended for adults with a BMI over 25 in conjunction with a calorie-restricted diet. The tablets should be taken twice daily with the highest fat content of meals. If necessary, the dose can be reduced to two tablets daily. Sterolsan is well tolerated and can be taken long-term. Possible side effects are digestive problems. People with an allergy to crustaceans or any of the ingredients should not take Sterolsan. In case of long-term medication intake, serious gastrointestinal diseases and after operations in the gastrointestinal tract as well as in the very elderly (over 80 years), a doctor should be consulted before taking Sterolsan. Sterolsan can bind fat-soluble active pharmaceutical ingredients and fat-soluble vitamins, which is why a time interval of at least four hours is recommended before taking other medicines. The tablets contain the active fibre polyglucosamine and excipients such as ascorbic acid and tartaric acid. Sterolsan is manufactured by Certmedica International GmbH.
