Directions for use of the article Nexium Control 20 mg: Nexium Control 20 mg is a medicine for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms such as heartburn and acid regurgitation in adults. The active ingredient esomeprazole belongs to a group of medicines called "proton pump inhibitors", which reduce acid production in the stomach. Reflux occurs when stomach acid enters the oesophagus and causes inflammation and pain. Nexium Control is not intended for immediate relief and should be taken for 2-3 consecutive days before symptoms improve. The duration of treatment is up to 14 days. If symptoms do not improve or even worsen after 14 days, a doctor should be consulted. The recommended dose of Nexium Control is one tablet per day. No more than one tablet (20 mg) should be taken per day, even if no immediate improvement is felt. The tablets can be taken at any time of the day with or without food. They should be swallowed whole with half a glass of water and not chewed or crushed. An alternative method is to place the tablet in a glass of still water, stir and drink the liquid immediately or within 30 minutes. The entire mixture should be drunk without chewing or crushing the solid components. Nexium Control should not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age. The medicine should also not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to the active substance esomeprazole or other proton pump inhibitors. Caution is advised in the case of impaired liver or kidney function. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the doctor should be consulted as the drug is not recommended according to current knowledge. Possible side effects of Nexium Control may include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, flatulence and abdominal pain. Gastrointestinal infections, dry mouth, headache, dizziness, tiredness, numbness, insomnia, skin reactions, changes in liver enzymes and water retention may also occur. If side effects persist or are severe, a doctor should be contacted. Nexium Control should be kept out of reach of children and should not be stored above 30°C.
