What is an allergy and how does it occur?

In the case of an allergy, our body's immune system reacts defensively to foreign substances that actually do not pose a health risk, such as:E.g. pollen, house dust mites or animal hair.In order to get rid of these allergens, certain cells of the body's defense system, so-called mast cells, release the messenger substance histamine.This histamine is responsible for allergic symptoms.

With the proven active ingredient levocabastine, Levocamed® blocks histamine.With its rapid action, it is suitable for treating acute hay fever symptoms and is also effective against animal hair and house dust mite allergies.For a 24-hour effect, Levocamed® only needs to be used twice a day.In comparison to many other local antihistamines, Levocamed® is already approved for children aged 1 year and over, as well as for adults and adolescents.

1 ml of Levocamed® nasal spray contains 0.5 mg levocabastine corresponding to 0.54 mg levocabastine hydrochloride.The other ingredients are: water for injections, propylene glycol (E 1520), sodium monohydrogen phosphate dihydrate (Ph.Eur.), sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, hypromellose 5, polysorbate 80, benzalkonium chloride solution (Ph.Eur.), sodium edetate (Ph.Eur.).

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the above ingredients, this product should not be used.

Dosage

Recommended use of Levocamed® nasal spray: In order to achieve a 24-hour effect, Levocamed® should be used twice a day.

Intake

Blow your nose carefully before each use.The nasal spray is a suspension.Please shake up the suspension before each use by moving the bottle up and down at least 5 times and use the nasal spray immediately.Excessive shaking should be avoided.Remove the protective cap from the bottle.

If you are using this nasal spray bottle for the first time, pump at least 3 times until a fine, even spray is created.If you have not used the nasal spray for 7 days or more, you must pump at least 2 times before using it again.

Tilt your head slightly forward, hold the bottle vertically and spray twice into each nostril.Breathe in through your nose while spraying.After use, wipe the pump device with a clean cloth and replace the protective cap.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the nasal spray.If you have kidney dysfunction, you may only use the nasal spray as prescribed by a doctor and under the supervision of a doctor.Safety and effectiveness in children younger than 1 year have not been established.

The nasal spray generally has no effect on concentration and attention.After use, complaints such as fatigue, fatigue, exhaustion, dizziness or feeling of weakness have been reported in individual cases.These can also be caused by the allergic symptoms themselves.In such cases, the ability to drive or use machines may be impaired and caution is advised.The same applies to work without a secure hold.Please note that alcohol can further impair your ability to drive.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Animal studies have shown no evidence of harmful effects on the developing embryo or fetus.There is limited experience with the use of levocabastine-containing nasal spray in pregnant women.The risk to humans is unknown.If you are already or suspected of being pregnant, only use the nasal spray after consulting your doctor.

You should only use the nasal spray while breastfeeding after consulting your doctor.

Notes

Levocamed® nasal spray must not be used if you are allergic to levocabastine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The safety and effectiveness of Levocamed® nasal spray in children under 1 year of age have not been proven.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.

Levocamed® nasal spray contains propylene glycol and benzalkonium chloride.
