Description

Bromhexine Hermes Medicines 8 mg/ml drops are an oral solution that contains the active ingredient bromhexine hydrochloride.This active ingredient was developed from a herbal ingredient of Indian lungwort.The product is an expectorant used for respiratory diseases with thick mucus.It has an expectorant effect in the bronchial tract and supports the removal of cough secretions.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

The drops are used to treat acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs in which thick mucus is present.They are suitable for adults and children aged 12 and over.Bromhexine activates the glands in the bronchi to produce thinner cough secretions.By liquefying the cough secretion and supporting the cilia in the airways, the removal of the cough secretion is promoted, which makes it easier to cough up the mucus.In addition, the inflamed mucous membrane in the bronchi can calm down.

Mode of action

Ingredients

The active ingredient in the drops is bromhexine hydrochloride.1 ml of solution, which corresponds to approximately 23 drops, contains 8 mg of bromhexine hydrochloride.The other ingredients include purified water, ethanol 96%, sucrose (sugar), potassium dihydrogen phosphate, polysorbate 80, hydrochloric acid 36%, sodium monohydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate (Ph. Eur.) and various flavorings such as star anise oil, bitter fennel oil, levomenthol, thyme oil, mint oil and eucalyptus oil.The drops contain 41% alcohol by volume.

Contraindications

The product should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

Dosage

Adults and adolescents over 14 years of age take 23 to 46 drops 3 times a day with plenty of liquid.Adolescents between 12 and 14 years of age and patients weighing less than 50 kg take 23 drops 3 times a day.It is important to drink enough fluids during treatment.

Intake

The drops are intended for ingestion and should be taken with plenty of liquid, such as water.

Notes

The medicine contains 41% alcohol by volume.If the dosage instructions are followed, up to 0.36 g of alcohol is added per ml.The drops should be kept out of the reach of children and tightly closed after opening so as not to affect their shelf life.Once opened, the drops have a shelf life of 6 months.The effect of other medicines can be impaired or increased by the alcohol content.
