Bromhexine HERMES Medicines® 12 mg/ml drops contains the active ingredient bromhexine hydrochloride, which was developed from a herbal ingredient of Indian lungwort.This medicine is available from a pharmacy and is used to treat respiratory diseases with thick mucus.It is an expectorant and has a mucus-liquefying effect in the bronchial tract, supports the removal of cough secretions and loosens stubborn coughs.

The drops are used for acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs that are accompanied by a disruption in mucus formation and transport.Bromhexine activates the glands in the bronchi to produce thinner cough secretions.By liquefying the cough secretion and supporting the activity of the cilia in the respiratory tract, the removal of the cough secretion is promoted and coughing up the mucus is made easier.The inflamed mucous membrane in the bronchi can calm down.

No prescription is required for this product.When bromhexine and antitussives, i.e. cough suppressants, are used in combination, a dangerous build-up of secretions can occur in the bronchi due to the limited cough reflex caused by the cough suppressants.A combination therapy of cough relievers and cough suppressants should only be carried out after consulting a doctor.

Mode of action

Bromhexine HERMES Medicines® 12 mg/ml drops contain the active ingredient bromhexine hydrochloride, which has an expectorant effect in the bronchial tract.The active ingredient liquefies the cough secretion and accelerates the removal of secretions from the deep respiratory tract.This loosens a persistent cough and frees the bronchi from accumulations of mucus, both in acute and chronic illnesses.

The active ingredient in Bromhexine HERMES Arzneimittel® 12 mg/ml drops is bromhexine hydrochloride.1 ml of solution, which corresponds to approximately 23 drops, contains 12 mg of bromhexine hydrochloride.Other ingredients include propylene glycol, glycerol and flavorings such as bitter fennel oil, star anise oil, mint flavor and levomenthol.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients mentioned, the product should not be used.

Dosage

Recommended use for Bromhexine HERMES Medicines® 12 mg/ml drops: Make sure to drink enough fluids during treatment.

Adults and adolescents over 14 years of age take 15 to 30 drops 3 times a day with sufficient liquid (water).Children and adolescents between 6 and 14 years of age as well as patients weighing less than 50 kg take 15 drops 3 times a day.Children between 2 and 6 years of age are given 8 drops 3 times a day.

The drops are intended for ingestion.

Notes

Keep Bromhexine HERMES Medicines® 12 mg/ml drops out of the reach of children and tightly closed after opening, otherwise the shelf life may be affected.Once opened, the drops have a shelf life of 6 months.

Contains propylene glycol, mint flavor and levomenthol.

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
