Amorolfine ADGC 50 mg/ml active nail polish is used for the topical treatment of fungal diseases of the nails (onychomycosis).This treatment is suitable if the nail root (nail matrix) is not affected and the infection affects less than 50% of the nail surface and fewer than three nails.The active ingredient amorolfine fights a variety of different fungi that can cause nail fungal infections.

Mode of action

Amorolfine damages the outer covering, the so-called cell membrane, of fungi.As a result, this shell loses some of its functions and becomes more impermeable to nutrients, so that the cell starves.Depending on the active ingredient concentration, the fungi are inhibited in their growth and reproduction or they die directly due to additional damage to the cell interior.

Amorolfine ADGC 50 mg/ml active nail polish contains the active ingredient amorolfine.Each milliliter of nail polish contains 50 mg of amorolfine (as hydrochloride).The other ingredients are ammonium methacrylate copolymer (type A), triacetin, butyl acetate, ethyl acetate and ethanol.

Dosage

Adults apply the nail polish to the affected fingernails or toenails once a week.Treatment should be continued until the diseased nails grow back healthy.This can generally take 6 months for fingernails and 9 to 12 months for toenails.Before each use, the affected nail parts should be removed with a nail file and the nail surface should be cleaned with an alcohol swab.The nail polish is then applied with a spatula and allowed to dry for 10 minutes.

Application instructions

Before the first use, the affected nail parts should be removed thoroughly.For further applications, the nails can be filed as needed.The nail surface should be cleaned with an alcohol swab to remove any remaining polish.The nail polish is applied with a spatula and the bottle should be tightly closed after each use.After application, the nail polish should dry for 10 minutes.Cosmetic nail polish can be applied after drying, but should be thoroughly removed before the next application.

Contraindications

Amorolfine ADGC 50 mg/ml active nail polish must not be used if you are allergic to amorolfine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.There is no experience with use in infants, children and adolescents.The medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breast-feeding unless clearly necessary.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include nail changes such as discoloration, brittle or broken nails, mild, temporary burning in the area around the treated nail, and severe allergic reactions.If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Notes

Avoid contact with eyes, ears and mucous membranes.No artificial nails should be used during application.Patients working with organic solvents must wear impermeable gloves to protect the lacquer layer.This medicine is flammable and should be kept away from fire and flames.No prescription is required for this product.

Storage

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.It should not be stored above 30°C and should be protected from heat.The bottle should be tightly closed and stored upright.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the bottle and carton.
