Fungal skin diseases are among the most common and stubborn infections.The cause is usually dermatophytes, such as Trichophyton (e.g. athlete's foot) or Microsporum species (filamentous fungi with a preference for skin scales).Numerous tropical antimycotics from different chemical classes are available for the treatment of skin mycoses.

Terbinafine hydrochloride STADA® 10 mg/g cream is a cream for external use against certain fungal infections of the skin, of which athlete's foot is the best known.Terbinafine has a strong fungicidal effect (kills fungi).Even small concentrations are highly effective, especially against dermatophytes.After application to diseased skin, only a small portion of the dose (<5%) reaches the skin, where it accumulates.Effective concentrations are still present 7 days after the last application.Due to the long-lasting fungicidal effect, in many cases a terbinafine treatment once a day for 1-2 weeks is sufficient to heal the fungal-infected skin.

Terbinafine hydrochloride STADA® 10 mg/g cream contains: The active ingredient is terbinafine hydrochloride.1 g of cream contains 10 mg of terbinafine hydrochloride.The other ingredients are benzyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol (Ph. Eur.), cetyl palmitate (Ph. Eur.), cetylstearyl alcohol (Ph. Eur.), isopropyl myristate (Ph. Eur.), sodium hydroxide, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate and purified water.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to terbinafine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.You can recognize hypersensitivity, for example, by red spots and swelling of the skin or itching.

Dosage

Recommended use of terbinafine hydrochloride STADA® 10 mg/g cream:

Adults and teenagers (12 years and older):

Athlete's foot (tinea pedis): once daily for 1 week.Possible symptoms of athlete's foot include itching, redness and scales between the toes and on the soles of the feet.Occasionally, tears in the skin (especially between the toes) and weeping blisters can occur.Athlete's foot often causes an unpleasant odor.

Tinea corporis: once daily for 1 week.Ringworm consists of slow-growing, itchy, red, and scaly circular patches that can be distributed all over the body.

Skin fungus (cutaneous candidiasis): once daily for 1 to 2 weeks.Candida is a yeast that can cause a skin infection under certain circumstances.The skin damage is often located in warm, moist areas of the body such as the groin or under the breasts.Symptoms include itching, redness and scaling.

Bran ringworm (Pityriasis versicolor): 1 to 2 times daily for 2 weeks.The yeast that causes pityriasis versicolor is called Malassezia furfur.Infection with this yeast occurs primarily on the shoulders, torso, and upper arms.Symptoms consist of slightly itchy and slightly scaly patches.In people with suntans, the patches are generally lighter than the rest of the skin, while in people with little or no sun exposure they tend to appear light brown.

In general, symptoms improve after just a few days.Infrequent use or stopping treatment early increases the likelihood that symptoms will return.If you do not notice any improvement within two weeks of starting treatment, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

Method of use: This medicine is for external use only.The opening of the tube is sealed with aluminum.This closure can be opened with the tube lid turned upside down under slight pressure.Before applying the cream, the skin must be carefully cleansed and dried.Apply just enough cream to cover the affected area of skin and its surrounding area with a thin layer of cream.Rub them lightly.If the area of skin being treated is in a fold of skin (under the breasts, between the toes or fingers, in the groin or between the buttocks), you should cover the skin with sterile gauze, especially at night.If applying the cream is not intended to treat your hands, please wash your hands afterwards.
