Ciclopirox Dexcel® 80 mg/g active nail polish

Ciclopirox Dexcel® is a nail polish containing active ingredients that is used to treat fungal nail infections (onychomycoses).The active ingredient ciclopirox belongs to the group of antifungal drugs and penetrates the nail plate to exert an antifungal effect on the main pathogens of nail fungal infections.

Area of application

This preparation is used to treat fungal nail infections.The active ingredient Ciclopirox penetrates the nail plate and effectively fights the fungal pathogens.

The nail polish contains 80 mg of ciclopirox per gram as the active ingredient.Other ingredients include ethyl acetate, isopropyl alcohol and poly(butyl hydrogen maleate-co-methoxyethylene) as excipients.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to Ciclopirox or any of the other ingredients.It should not be used in children as there is insufficient experience in this age group.Its use is also not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Dosage

Always use the medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.A thin layer of nail polish should be applied to the affected nail once daily.Before the first application, affected parts of the nail should be removed and heavily callused areas should be treated with a disposable nail file.

During the period of use, you should remove the lacquer layer once a week with an alcohol swab and remove heavily calloused material from the nail plate.If the varnish layer is damaged between two applications, it is sufficient to coat the chipped areas with enough nail polish.

The duration of treatment depends on the extent of the infection and should not exceed 6 months.If you use more than you should, no cases of overdose have been reported.If you forget to use it, do not use a double dose but continue treatment as recommended.

If you stop treatment before your nails are healed, the fungus may return and the condition of your nails may worsen.No prescription is required for this product.

Apply a thin layer of nail polish to the affected nail once daily.Before the first application, affected parts of the nail should be removed and heavily callused areas should be treated with a disposable nail file.Close the bottle carefully after each use to prevent the solution from drying out.The solution must not come into contact with the screw thread of the bottle to avoid sticking of the cap.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the medicine.The use of topical drugs for long periods of time may result in sensitization phenomena or side effects.Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.You must not use nail polish or other cosmetic nail products during treatment.Since there is insufficient clinical experience, the preparation must not be used in children.

The medicine has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

The medicine must generally not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Application

Unless otherwise prescribed, a thin layer of Ciclopirox Dexcel® is applied to the affected nail once daily.Before the first application, affected parts of the nail should be removed as much as possible and heavily callused areas should be treated with a disposable nail file.

During the period of use, you should remove the entire layer of varnish once a week with the included alcohol swabs and remove heavily callused material from the nail plate.If the paint layer is damaged between two applications, it is sufficient to coat the chipped areas with sufficient Ciclopirox Dexcel®.

The duration of treatment depends on the extent of the infection and should not exceed 6 months.

Notes

It is recommended to carefully close the cap of the bottle after each use to prevent the solution from drying out.The solution must not come into contact with the screw thread of the bottle to avoid sticking of the cap.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.
