Instructions for use for Kodan tincture forte colorless skin disinfectant

Kodan tincture forte colorless is an alcoholic antiseptic for use on the skin.It is used for skin disinfection before surgical procedures, catheterizations, blood and liquor collections, injections, punctures, excisions, cannulations, biopsies and for suture care.It also supports general hygiene measures to prevent fungal skin diseases and is used for hygienic hand disinfection.

The medicinally active ingredients are 45.0 g 2-propanol (Ph.Eur.), 10.0 g 1-propanol (Ph.Eur.) and 0.20 g biphenyl-2-ol.These are effective against bacteria, including mycobacteria, fungi and many viruses.The product is effective against enveloped viruses, which is classified as “limited virucidal”.No prescription is required for this product.

Application instructions

Kodan tincture forte colorless should always be used exactly as directed.To disinfect the skin, it is sprayed until completely wetted.It should be left undiluted for at least 15 seconds before punctures and injections.Before surgical procedures, the exposure time is at least 1 minute.For skin rich in sebaceous glands, it should be applied repeatedly and left to act for 2 minutes.In case of contamination with mycobacteria, two-time application is required.

Precautions

The product must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or other ingredients.It is intended for external use only and must not be brought into contact with open flames or switched-on electrical heating sources.The product should be allowed to dry before applying bandages.If you accidentally come into contact with your eyes, you should rinse immediately with plenty of water.

There is no experience with use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.The product should not be used on newborns and premature babies.If used with other medicines, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted.

Side effects

Possible side effects include skin irritation such as redness, burning and dryness, especially with frequent use.In rare cases, contact allergic reactions may occur.

Storage

The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children.Once opened, it should not be used for longer than 12 months, but not beyond the expiry date stated on the packaging.No special storage conditions are required.

100 G of solution contains: 45.0 g 2-propanol (Ph.Eur.), 10.0 g 1-propanol (Ph.Eur.), 0.20 g biphenyl-2-ol as well as hydrogen peroxide solution 30% (Ph.Eur.) and purified water.
