Spalt® painkillers

Spalt® pain tablets is an over-the-counter medicine that is used to treat acute, mild to moderate pain in adults.The drug combines two proven active ingredients: acetylsalicylic acid (ASS) and paracetamol.These active ingredients complement each other in their pain-relieving effects, with ASS acting primarily locally at the site of pain and paracetamol centrally in the brain.This creates a stronger pain-relieving effect than taking the individual substances.

Areas of application

Spalt® pain tablets are used for acute, mild to moderate pain.It has an analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effect.

Mode of action

The active ingredients acetylsalicylic acid and paracetamol inhibit cyclooxygenase, an enzyme that is involved in the formation of pain, inflammation and fever-inducing messenger substances.By inhibiting these messenger substances, pain, inflammation and fever are relieved.The combination of the two active ingredients leads to an additive effect that increases the pain and fever-reducing effect.This effect has been confirmed in various animal models.

Each tablet of Spalt® painkillers contains 300 mg acetylsalicylic acid and 300 mg paracetamol as active ingredients.In addition, the medication contains the following other ingredients: cellulose powder, microcrystalline cellulose, glycerol tritetradecanoate, corn starch, povidone K25, highly disperse silicon dioxide and stearic acid.

Contraindications

Spalt® painkillers must not be taken if you are known to be hypersensitive to one of the ingredients, if you have gastrointestinal ulcers, have an increased tendency to bleed, or if you have children and adolescents under 12 years of age, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding.In the case of bronchial asthma, simultaneous therapy with anticoagulant drugs, chronic and recurring stomach and intestinal problems, previously damaged kidneys, severe liver dysfunction, Gilbert's syndrome or hypersensitivity to other anti-inflammatory/anti-rheumatic drugs, the medication should only be taken with particular caution and after consulting a doctor.

Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed, adults and adolescents over 12 years of age take 1 tablet as a single dose.If necessary, up to 3 more tablets can be taken 4-8 hours apart.The total daily dose should not exceed 4 tablets (corresponding to 1200 mg acetylsalicylic acid and 1200 mg paracetamol).The tablets can be dissolved in a little liquid or swallowed whole with plenty of liquid, preferably after a meal.Self-medication use should not last longer than 3-4 days.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, medications should only be taken after consultation with a doctor or pharmacist.There is no experience with the safety of the combination preparation during pregnancy.Paracetamol, acetylsalicylic acid and caffeine can enter the child's circulation.Salicylates have shown teratogenic effects in animal studies.Therefore, the medicine should not be taken in the first 6 months of pregnancy and in the last 3 months it is not allowed.During breastfeeding, the active ingredients can pass into breast milk, which can affect the well-being and behavior of the baby.

Notes

Because of the acetylsalicylic acid content, Spalt® painkillers should not be used in children and adolescents with feverish illnesses.No prescription is required for this product.

Other

Spalt® painkillers should only be taken for a short period of time for acute pain.If taken before surgery, the doctor or dentist should be informed.If black stools (tarry stools) appear, a doctor should be contacted immediately.If signs of infection appear or worsen while taking the medication, a doctor should be contacted immediately.If the specified intake amounts are exceeded, liver values may increase.Painkillers should not be taken for a long time or in large quantities without consulting your doctor.Habitual use of painkillers can cause irreversible damage to your health.Long-term use of painkillers can cause permanent kidney damage.

Application

The usual dose for adults is 1 tablet, if necessary up to 3 times a day, 4 to 8 hours apart.The maximum dose of 4 tablets per day should not be exceeded.The tablets should either be dissolved in a little liquid or swallowed whole with plenty of liquid.The tablets should not be taken for longer than 3 days without medical or dental advice.
