What are Spalt painkillers and what are they used for?

Spalt pain tablets are an over-the-counter medicine that is used to treat acute, mild to moderate pain in adults and adolescents aged 12 and over.The tablets contain the active ingredients acetylsalicylic acid and paracetamol, which have both pain-relieving and fever-reducing effects.Acetylsalicylic acid also has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Areas of application

Spalt painkillers are used for various types of pain, including headaches, toothaches and period pains.They are particularly effective for acute pain conditions.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each tablet contains 300 mg acetylsalicylic acid and 300 mg paracetamol as active ingredients.The preparation also contains the following other ingredients: corn starch, cellulose powder, microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid, glycerol tritetradecanoate, povidone 25 and highly disperse silicon dioxide.

Dosage and application

The usual dose for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is 1 tablet, which can be taken up to three times a day if necessary.The tablets can either be dissolved in a little liquid or taken whole with plenty of liquid.It is recommended not to take the tablets after meals as this may delay the onset of action.

The maximum dose of 4 tablets per day should not be exceeded.The tablets should not be taken for longer than 3 days without medical or dental advice.

Special patient groups

In patients with liver or kidney dysfunction and Gilbert's syndrome, the dose must be reduced or the interval between doses increased.A total daily dose of 2g paracetamol must not be exceeded without medical advice.

Elderly patients generally do not require any special dosage adjustment.However, in debilitated, immobilized elderly patients with impaired liver or kidney function, a reduction in dose or extension of the dosing interval may be necessary.

Side effects

Possible side effects include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain, as well as headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, tinnitus, visual disturbances and anemia.If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications

Spalt painkillers must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, have an increased tendency to bleed, have gastrointestinal ulcers, are children and adolescents under 12 years of age, or are pregnant.If you have certain pre-existing conditions or are taking other medications at the same time, the product should only be taken after consulting a doctor.

Storage

The medicine must be protected from heat and kept out of the reach of children.It must not be stored above +25 °C.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton or container.
