Nail fungus is a widespread problem.According to estimates, around one in eight people in Germany suffers from a fungal nail infection at some point in their life.The infection often goes unnoticed at first because the affected nail simply becomes dull and loses its shine in the initial stages.

An infection becomes noticeable through changes in the affected nails.They can become discolored, thick, and brittle.There are many treatment options and home remedies.Medical nail polishes are often the first choice.With the antifungal nail polish Ciclopirox Dexcel®, finger and toenail fungus can be treated efficiently and with few side effects, which enables healthy nails to grow back.

The brush for daily application of nail polish is integrated into the screw cap of the bottle, which makes it convenient to use.

Area of application

The preparation is a medicated nail polish that contains the active ingredient ciclopirox.Ciclopirox belongs to the group of antifungal drugs and penetrates the nail plate to exert an antifungal effect on the main causative agents of nail fungal diseases.It is used to treat fungal nail infections, also called onychomycosis.

The nail polish contains 80 mg of ciclopirox per gram. Other ingredients include ethyl acetate, isopropyl alcohol and poly(butyl hydrogen maleate-co-methoxyethylene).

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to Ciclopirox or any of the other ingredients.It must not be used on children as there is insufficient experience in this age group.The product should also not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Dosage

Always use the medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.If you are unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

During the application period, you should remove the entire layer of paint once a week with an alcohol swab.You should also remove heavily callused material from the nail plate using a disposable nail file.If the varnish layer is damaged between two applications, it is sufficient to coat the chipped areas with enough nail polish.

The duration of treatment depends on the extent of the infection and should not exceed 6 months.

Cases of overdose have not been reported.If you forget to use it, do not use a double dose.Continue treatment as recommended.

If you stop treatment before your nails have healed or their appearance has significantly improved, the fungus may not go away.In this case, the condition of your nails may worsen again.

No prescription is required for this product.

Intake

Unless otherwise prescribed, apply a thin layer of the medicated nail polish to the affected nail once daily.Before applying for the first time, you should remove as much of the affected parts of the nail as possible, e.g.B. with scissors, and remove heavily callused areas with a disposable nail file.

After each use, you should carefully close the cap of the bottle to prevent the solution from drying out.Be careful not to let the solution come into contact with the screw thread of the bottle to avoid sticking the cap.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the medicine.The use of topical drugs for long periods of time may cause sensitization phenomena or cause side effects.In such cases, you should stop treatment and take appropriate therapeutic measures.Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.

You must not use nail polish or other cosmetic nail products during treatment.Since there is insufficient clinical experience, the preparation must not be used in children.

The medicine has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

The medicine must generally not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Notes

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
