Areas of application

Ciclopoli against nail fungus is a nail polish containing active ingredients that is used to treat fungal diseases of the nails (onychomycosis).These diseases are caused by filamentous fungi and/or other fungi that can be treated with the active ingredient ciclopirox.The nail polish is intended for use from 18 years of age.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The main active ingredient in Ciclopoli against nail fungus is Ciclopirox.The nail polish also contains the following other ingredients: ethyl acetate, ethanol 96%, cetostearyl alcohol (vegetable), hydroxypropyl chitosan and purified water.Cetylstearyl alcohol can cause localized skin irritation such as contact dermatitis.

Mode of action

Ciclopirox damages the outer covering of the fungal cells, the so-called cell membrane.This makes the cell membrane more impermeable to nutrients, which leads to cell starvation.In addition, cell components can escape, causing the cell to dissolve.Depending on the concentration of the active ingredient, the growth and reproduction of the fungi is inhibited or killed directly.Ciclopirox also accumulates inside the fungal cell and damages the organs there.

Application

Ciclopoli against nail fungus should be applied thinly to the affected nails and the surrounding skin once a day in the evening before going to bed.The paint will dry after about 30 seconds.Residues of varnish that are not embedded in the nail can simply be washed off the next time you shower.It is not necessary to file the nail plate beforehand or use nail polish remover.Treatment should be continued until the diseased nails grow back completely healthy.

Dosage

Adults should apply a sufficient amount of nail polish once a day before going to bed.The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.The nails should be clean and dry and the medicine should be applied to the entire nail plate, within 5 mm of the surrounding skin and, if possible, under the free edge of the nail.The treated nails must not be washed for at least 6 hours.

Contraindications

Ciclopoli against nail fungus must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to Ciclopirox or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.In addition, the medicine must not be used in children and adolescents under the age of 18, as there is no sufficient experience in this age group.

Side effects

Possible side effects may include skin hypersensitivity reactions, such as skin irritation, skin redness, skin flaking or peeling, burning of the skin and itching.If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Notes

No prescription is required for this product.Store the medicine at room temperature, away from moisture and in the dark.After opening or preparation, the medicine may be used for a maximum of 6 months.Keep the medicine out of the reach of children and keep the bottle tightly closed after each use to avoid evaporation of the contents.
