Vitaprompt 1000 microgram film-coated tablets contain the active substance cyanocobalamin, also known as vitamin B12. This medicine is used to treat vitamin B12 deficiency caused by inadequate nutrition. It is also suitable for the long-term treatment of vitamin B12 deficiency or for the oral treatment of pernicious anaemia and neurological symptoms after previous treatment with vitamin B12 injections. What is Vitaprompt and what is it used for?

Vitaprompt contains the synthetic vitamin B12, cyanocobalamin. In a healthy diet, sufficient vitamin B12 is absorbed. However, in certain conditions the body may have difficulty absorbing enough vitamin B12, for example after stomach surgery or in gastrointestinal disorders. Vitaprompt is used in adults when there is a vitamin B12 deficiency due to malnutrition. It is also used for the long-term treatment of vitamin B12 deficiency when absorption from the intestine is impaired. In addition, it can be used to treat pernicious anaemia and neurological symptoms after the concentration of vitamin B12 in the blood has been normalised.

What should you be aware of before taking Vitaprompt?

Vitaprompt must not be taken if you are allergic to cyanocobalamin or any of the other ingredients of the medicine. In addition, there are some other contraindications, including certain types of anaemia, detoxification therapy for cyanide, a certain hereditary eye disease and visual impairment due to tobacco or alcohol use. How should Vitaprompt be taken?

Always take Vitaprompt exactly as directed, either as your doctor has told you or according to the leaflet. Swallow the film-coated tablet whole with plenty of liquid. The usual dosage is 1 tablet per day. However, in cases of pernicious anaemia and neurological symptoms, treatment should be started with injections until the blood values have normalised. What are the possible side effects?

Occasionally, severe hypersensitivity reactions such as wheals, rash or itching may occur. In some cases, acne-like rashes, blistering and allergic reactions with fever have also been observed.
