Instructions for use of Sic-Ophtal sine eye drops

Sic-Ophtal sine are eye drops without preservatives.The active ingredient is hypromellose, with 1 ml of eye drops containing 3.20 mg of hypromellose.These eye drops are used for the symptomatic treatment of dry eye symptoms of the cornea and conjunctiva, known as “dry eye”.This dryness can be caused by disorders of tear secretion or function, local or systemic diseases, and incomplete eyelid closure.The eye drops are particularly suitable for patients who cannot tolerate preserved artificial tear substitutes.

Areas of application

Sic-Ophtal sine is a tear substitute that is used for the symptomatic treatment of dry eye symptoms of the cornea and conjunctiva.This dryness can be caused by tear secretion and tear dysfunction, local or systemic diseases, and incomplete eyelid closure.The eye drops are particularly suitable for patients who cannot tolerate preserved artificial tear substitutes.

What do you need to consider before using Sic-Ophtal sine?

Sic-Ophtal sine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to hypromellose or any of the other ingredients.If you also use other eye drops or eye ointments, you should leave an interval of approx. 10-15 minutes and always use Sic-Ophtal sine last.Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using other medicines.

No special studies have been carried out on pregnant patients with Sic-Ophtal sine.Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should only be carried out after careful risk-benefit assessment by the doctor.Before using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

After instilling Sic-Ophtal sine, visual acuity may worsen for a few minutes.Because of the reduction in visual acuity, we recommend that you do not work without a secure grip for a few minutes after instillation and that you do not drive.

How to use Sic-Ophtal sine?

Please adhere to the application instructions, otherwise Sic-Ophtal sine cannot work properly.Unless otherwise prescribed, drip 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 3 to 5 times a day or more frequently as needed.Dry eye therapy requires individual dosage.The number of applications can be increased individually depending on the severity of the symptoms.When using Sic-Ophtal sine, it is not necessary to remove hard or soft contact lenses.

If you use more Sic-Ophtal sine than you should, there is no known risk.Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.If you have any questions about the use of Sic-Ophtal sine, please contact your doctor or pharmacist.

What side effects are possible?

Possible side effects include hypersensitivity and intolerance reactions such as burning, pain, increased tearing, foreign body sensation, conjunctival redness, eyelid swelling and itching.Rash and itching may also occur.If you notice any side effects when using Sic-Ophtal sine, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

How should Sic-Ophtal sine be stored?

The medicine must no longer be used after the expiry date.Sic-Ophtal sine does not contain any preservatives.Open single-dose containers must not be stored.The remaining amount in the single-dose container after application must be discarded.Do not store above 25°C!

Sic-Ophtal sine contains 3.20 mg hypromellose per ml eye drops.The viscosity of the eye drops is between 7 and 11 mPa s.The other ingredients are sodium monohydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sorbitol and water for injections.

Correct handling of the single-dose containers: Separate a single-dose container from the bar and hold it by the label side.Twist off the cap of the single-dose container. To instill the single-dose container, hold it vertically over the eye.
