stypro® is a biomaterial that was originally developed for hemostasis and is now used in various areas of surgery.It is a sterile, highly porous sponge that is implantable and absorbable.stypro® is characterized by its high processing stability, so that it is usually not necessary to remove the sponge after hemostasis.

The stypro® gelatin sponge is available in different shapes and cuts:

stypro® Cubus: 10 x 10 x 10 mm

stypro® standard: 50 x 80 x 10 mm

stypro® Special: 50 x 80 x 1 mm

stypro® tampon: 80 x 30 mm diameter

Newer applications also show advantages in tissue engineering and thus in wound healing of soft tissue defects.An expansion of the areas of application is to be expected in the future.

Product characteristics

The stypro® sponges made of porcine gelatin retain the ability of collagen to initiate hemostasis.stypro® works physiologically without thrombin or other additives.Resorption after implantation takes place in approx. 3 weeks.stypro® can be soaked in physiological saline solution without affecting its hemostatic properties.Stypro® sponges soaked in blood do not stick to the instrument.

All stypro® cuts are interconnectively porous.There are currently four different cuts, of which the Cubus is most commonly used in the dental sector, while the Standard or Special are used for larger procedures.

stypro® is a safe preparation.Scientific investigations have revealed no evidence of PERV - DNA sequences (PERV = porcine endogenous retrovirus).The packaging is safe and double;The material is sterilized by radiation after production.The Cubus is simple, sterilely packaged in a practical blister pack of two.

Indications in dentistry / MKG-Surgery

stypro® is used to stop bleeding and fill sockets after tooth extraction.It can also be used to fill soft tissue defects in all surgeries.There is experience in the operation of cleft lip and palate.

Indications in oral surgery

The excellent suitability of stypro® for various complex procedures in oral surgery practice was documented on 125 patients.

Indications in implantology

stypro® can be used as a fleece membrane (Special / Cubus) to protect the Schneiderian membrane during sinus lifts.

Application in hemorrhoid surgery

The stypro® tampon is used in hemorrhoid surgery to avoid minor bleeding after the procedure.This is particularly advantageous for outpatient surgery.In the clinic, there is usually no need to remove the tampon as it is excreted naturally when healing begins.
