Areas of application

ferro sanol comp is an oral iron/folic acid/vitamin B12 preparation.It is used for iron deficiency conditions, iron deficiency anemia and to prevent a deficiency of vitamin B12 and folic acid.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredients in ferro sanol comp are iron (II) glycine sulfate complex, folic acid and vitamin B12.Each hard capsule contains 170.3 mg iron(II) glycine sulfate complex (corresponding to 30 mg Fe2+), 0.50 mg folic acid and 2.50 µg vitamin B12.

Other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer, ascorbic acid, talc, triethyl (2-acetoxypropane-1,2,3-tricarboxylate), hyprolose, hypromellose, polysorbate 80, sodium dodecyl sulfate, sodium citrate 2 H20, anhydrous citric acid, dextrin, lactose monohydrate,Poly(0-carboxymethyl) starch, sodium salt, magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, gelatin, titanium dioxide, iron oxide hydrate and iron (III) oxide.

Dosage and application

Always take ferro sanol comp exactly according to the instructions in the package leaflet or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.The usual dose for adults and children aged 6 years and over (weighing at least 20 kg) is 1 hard capsule 3 times a day.

It should be taken either in the morning on an empty stomach (approx. 1 hour before breakfast) or at a sufficient interval of around 2 hours before or after a meal.Take the hard capsules whole with enough water.If you have problems swallowing, you can open the capsule and take the contents (pellets and a mini-tablet) directly.

Your doctor will determine the duration of use.Replenishing body iron stores can take between 3 to 6 months.

Side effects

Like all medicines, ferro sanol comp can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Common side effects include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, diarrhea and constipation.Reversible discoloration of the tooth area can rarely occur.In rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions such as skin symptoms, exanthema, rash and hives may also occur.

If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications

ferro sanol comp must not be taken if you are allergic to iron, folic acid, vitamin B12 or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.The preparation must also not be used in cases of narrowing of the esophagus, hereditary iron storage disease (hemochromatosis), iron overload, iron utilization disorders, megaloblastic anemia as a result of an isolated vitamin B12 deficiency and in children under 6 years of age (with a body weight of less than 20 kg).

Warnings and precautions

Particular caution is required when taking ferro sanol comp if you suffer from existing diseases of the digestive tract, suffer from chronic kidney disease and require erythropoietin, or in older people with initially unexplained iron deficiency or anemia.In children, overdose should be avoided as this can lead to poisoning.

Discoloration of the teeth can occur during treatment with ferro sanol comp.These may resolve spontaneously after stopping the medication or may need to be removed using an abrasive toothpaste or professional teeth cleaning.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Storage

Keep ferro sanol comp out of the reach of children and do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the blister strips and the folding box.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.Store the medicine in the original packaging to protect the contents from moisture.Do not store above 25°C.
