ferro sanol® comp is an oral iron/folic acid/vitamin B12 preparation.It is used for iron deficiency conditions, iron deficiency anemia and to prevent a deficiency of vitamin B12 and folic acid.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

One hard capsule contains the following active ingredients: 170.3 mg iron(II) glycine sulfate complex (corresponding to 30 mg iron(II) ions), 0.50 mg folic acid and 2.50 μg vitamin B12.Other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer, ascorbic acid, talc, triethyl (2-acetoxypropane-1,2,3-tricarboxylate), hyprolose, hypromellose, polysorbate 80, sodium dodecyl sulfate, sodium citrate 2-water, anhydrous citric acid, dextrin, lactose monohydrate,Poly(O-carboxymethyl) starch sodium salt, magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, gelatin, titanium dioxide, iron oxide hydrate and iron (III) oxide.

Area of application

The medicine is used to treat iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia and to prevent vitamin B12 and folic acid deficiencies.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.The usual dose for adults and children aged 6 years and over (with a body weight of at least 20 kg), unless otherwise prescribed, is 1 hard capsule 3 times a day.The duration of use is determined by the doctor and can be between 3 to 6 months, depending on the severity of the anemia and individual circumstances.

Intake

Take ferro sanol® comp hard capsules whole with enough water (preferably 1 glass).It should be taken either in the morning on an empty stomach (approx. 1 hour before breakfast) or at a sufficient interval of around 2 hours before or after a meal.If there are problems swallowing or you do not want to swallow the capsule, the contents of the capsule can also be taken without the capsule shell.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients, have a narrowing of the esophagus, suffer from a hereditary iron storage disease (hemochromatosis), suffer from iron overload or iron utilization disorders or have megaloblastic anemia as a result of an isolated vitamin B12 deficiency.

Patient information

Particular caution is required for existing diseases of the digestive tract, chronic kidney disease, older people with initially unexplained iron deficiency and children, as an overdose can lead to poisoning.Discoloration of the teeth may occur, which disappears after the medication is stopped or must be removed by professional teeth cleaning.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you should only take this medicine as directed by your doctor.

Notes

The medicine contains lactose.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pack.Your blood should be checked by your doctor approximately every 4 weeks.A harmless black discoloration of the stool may occur.
