Area of application

This preparation is a broad-spectrum antifungal that is used to treat fungal diseases of the nails (mycoses), provided the nail root is not affected.The active ingredient amorolfine fights a variety of fungi that can cause nail fungal infections.It penetrates the nail plate and nail bed, inhibits the growth of fungi and kills them.This fights the fungal infection and improves the appearance of the nails.The preparation is particularly suitable for nail infections of up to 80%, especially in the front area.

The preparation contains 55.7 mg of amorolfine hydrochloride, which corresponds to 50 mg of amorolfine.The following excipients are also included: 482.3 mg ethanol, ethyl acetate, Eudragit RL, n-butyl acetate and triacetin.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to amorolfine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage

Always use the product exactly as described or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.Apply the medicine to the affected fingernails or toenails once a week and continue treatment until the affected nails grow out healthy.A nail file used for treatment must no longer be used for the care of healthy nails in order to avoid infection of healthy nails.When working with organic solvents, you should wear impermeable gloves to protect the paint layer.

Fungal infections are often persistent and require continuous treatment once a week until the nail has grown back completely healthy.This can generally take 6 months for fingernails and 9 to 12 months for toenails, depending on the level of infestation.The nail growth rate is approximately 1 to 2 mm per month.

If you or someone else accidentally swallows the nail polish, contact your doctor, pharmacist or nearest hospital immediately.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you think the effect is too strong or too weak.No prescription is required for this product.

Intake

The preparation is intended for external use and is applied to the affected nails.Before the first use, the diseased parts of the nail surfaces should be filed down as much as possible.For all further applications, re-file as necessary.Before each further use, clean the nail surface with an alcohol swab and remove any remaining polish.Apply the nail polish evenly to the entire area of the affected nail using a spatula and close the bottle tightly immediately after each use.Allow treated nails to dry for 10 minutes.

To reuse, clean the spatula after use with an alcohol swab or a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover.After applying the nail polish, cosmetic nail polish can be applied as soon as the nail polish containing the active ingredients has dried.Before reapplying the nail polish containing active ingredients, the cosmetic nail polish should be carefully removed.File your nails again and clean your nails with the provided swab.However, the use of nail polish remover should be avoided between individual applications.

Other tips to support treatment include washing towels frequently at at least 60°C and airing and drying shoes well.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the medicine.Nail files that are used for diseased nails should not be used for healthy nails.The preparation should not be applied to the skin around the affected nail.Avoid all contact with eyes, ears and mucous membranes.No artificial nails should be used during application.Patients working with organic solvents must wear impermeable gloves to protect the layer of the preparation on the fingernails.

All medicines can cause allergic reactions.If this occurs, stop using the medication, remove nail polish immediately using nail polish remover or alcohol wipes for cleaning, and seek medical advice.The preparation must not be used again.In the case of severe nail fungal disease involving the new nail formation zone, treatment with the preparation alone is not sufficient.There is currently no experience with use in infants, children and adolescents.

The medicine has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.There is only limited experience with the use of the product during pregnancy and breastfeeding.The product should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly necessary.

Amorolfin Dexcel® 50 mg/ml active nail polish

This nail polish is reliable against fungal nail infections and is only used once a week.Cosmetic nail polish can also be applied.Fungal nail infections are not uncommon and can be caused by tight shoes and a warm, humid foot climate.The antifungal active ingredient amorolfine has proven effective in the treatment of fungal nail infections.Patience is required for successful therapy, as the nail must be treated regularly with nail polish.There are no visual restrictions as the medical polish can be used under cosmetic nail polish.

Application

The nail polish should be applied to the affected fingernails or toenails once a week.Before the first application, the diseased parts of the nails should be filed with a disposable nail file and the nail surface should be cleaned with an alcohol swab.Before further use, file affected nails as necessary and clean them with an alcohol swab.Apply the nail polish with a spatula to the entire area of the affected nail and let it dry for 10 minutes.The spatula should be re-immersed for each nail to be treated and should not be wiped off at the neck of the bottle.To reuse, clean the spatula with an alcohol swab after use and close the bottle tightly.

Treatment should be continued without interruption until the nail has regenerated and the affected areas have completely healed.The duration of treatment depends on the severity and infestation and is generally six months for fingernails or nine to twelve months for toenails.Treatment evaluation is recommended at approximately three-month intervals.A concurrent athlete's foot infection should be treated with a suitable cream for athlete's foot.
