Exoderil cream is an antimycotic used to treat fungal infections of the skin (dermatomycoses). It contains the active ingredient naftifine hydrochloride. It works by damaging the outer covering of fungi, affecting their functions and inhibiting their growth or killing them. The cream is applied thinly to the affected areas of skin once a day and rubbed in. The treatment should be continued for 1-2 weeks after the symptoms have subsided in order to prevent the fungal disease from recurring. For fungal infections of the nails, the gel form of the medicine should be used. Side effects may include skin irritation, a burning sensation on the skin, dry skin, skin inflammation and redness. The medicine must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to naftifine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients.
