Area of application
The medicine contains folic acid, a B vitamin that is required for normal blood formation.It can be used to treat folic acid deficiency, such as anemia due to folic acid deficiency, in adults, children aged 6 years and over, and adolescents.Such a deficiency should be confirmed by a blood test, including checking vitamin B12 levels.
In addition, the preparation can be used to prevent folic acid deficiency in patients who are taking medicines that reduce folic acid levels in the blood.The medicine is also suitable for preventing neural tube defects in unborn children, such as spina bifida, a congenital malformation of the spine.This applies to women who want to become pregnant and are known to be at risk.

The active ingredient in this medicine is folic acid with a dosage of 5 mg per tablet.The other ingredients include 72 mg lactose 1-water, 8.3 mg sucrose, macrogol 4000, vegetable magnesium stearate, pre-gelatinized corn starch and stearic acid.
Contraindications
Do not take folic acid if you are allergic to folic acid or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
To treat folic acid deficiency, the recommended dose for adults is 5 mg daily for 3 to 4 months.In individual cases the dose can be increased.The medicine should not be used in children under 6 years of age.To treat anemia caused by folic acid deficiency, the recommended dose is 5 mg daily for 4 months.
Seniors and patients with kidney or liver impairment can take the same dose as healthy adults.
To prevent drug-induced folic acid deficiency, the recommended dose is 1-5 mg daily or 5 mg once weekly.For methotrexate treatment, you should take the dose 24 hours after taking methotrexate.
For the prevention of neural tube defects in unborn babies in women known to be at risk, the recommended dose is 5 mg daily from at least 4 weeks before conception until at least 12 weeks afterwards.
The duration of treatment depends on the cause of the folic acid deficiency and the success of the treatment.
If you take more than you should, this medicine is unlikely to cause harm.If you are worried, ask your doctor or nearest hospital for advice.
If you forget to take a dose, take a tablet as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for the next dose.Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.

Intake
The tablet can be taken with plenty of liquid, regardless of meals.
Patient information
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you have a vitamin B12 deficiency or anemia of unknown cause, if you have cancer or a tumor, or if you are a healthy pregnant woman at no risk of having a baby with a neural tube defect.In this case, your doctor will prescribe a product with a lower amount of folic acid.
The medicine should not be used in children under 6 years of age.
This medicine is not known to affect the ability to drive or use machines.
