Folic acid AbZ is a vitamin preparation that is used to treat folic acid deficiencies that cannot be remedied by changing your diet.No prescription is required for this product.

Each tablet contains 5 mg of the active ingredient folic acid.The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, talc, cellulose powder, highly dispersed silicon dioxide and magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to folic acid or any of the other ingredients.Before treating anemia caused by impaired red blood cell development, it must be ensured that it is not due to a vitamin B12 deficiency.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is 1 to 3 tablets per day, corresponding to 5 to 15 mg of folic acid, depending on your needs.During pregnancy the maximum daily dose should not exceed 5 mg.The duration of treatment depends on the extent of the folic acid deficiency and is determined by the doctor.

With occasional higher doses, no overdose symptoms are to be expected.However, patients with seizure disorders may experience an increase in the tendency to convulsions.At high doses (over 15 mg per day and for more than 4 weeks) gastrointestinal disorders, sleep disorders, agitation or depression may occur.In these cases you should contact your doctor.

Intake

The tablets are taken whole with meals with a little liquid.

Particular caution is required when taking the drug.Even in the case of life-threatening anemia, a possible vitamin B12 deficiency must be ruled out before starting therapy.There is no sufficient experience with the use of a daily dose of more than 5 mg folic acid during pregnancy, therefore the maximum daily dose of 5 mg should not be exceeded.
