Folic acid ratiopharm® 5 mg

Folic acid ratiopharm® is a vitamin preparation that is used to treat folic acid deficiency states that cannot be compensated for by a balanced diet.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

Folic acid ratiopharm® 5 mg tablets are used in cases of folic acid deficiency or an increased folic acid requirement.Folic acid deficiency can result from an unbalanced diet, gastrointestinal diseases or long-term use of hormonal contraceptives.An increased need for folic acid occurs, for example, during pregnancy, breastfeeding or in certain forms of anemia.

Each tablet contains 5 mg of folic acid as the active ingredient.In addition, the preparation contains lactose monohydrate, talc, cellulose powder, highly disperse silicon dioxide and magnesium stearate as other ingredients.

Contraindications

If you are known to be allergic to any of the ingredients, the product should not be used.If hypersensitivity reactions occur, the intake must be stopped immediately.

Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed, the recommended dose is 1-3 tablets per day, corresponding to 5-15 mg folic acid, as needed.During pregnancy and breastfeeding, 1 tablet per day is usually recommended.

Intake

The tablets are taken whole with meals with a little liquid.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking the drug.In the case of life-threatening megaloblastic anemia, a possible vitamin B12 deficiency must be ruled out before starting therapy.There is no sufficient experience with the use of a daily dose of more than 5 mg folic acid during pregnancy, therefore the maximum daily dose of 5 mg folic acid should not be exceeded.

Pregnancy

There are no known risks up to a daily dose of 5 mg folic acid.There is no sufficient experience with the use of a higher dose during pregnancy, therefore the maximum daily dose of 5 mg folic acid should not be exceeded.Before taking any medication, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.

Notes

This product contains lactose.If you have a known intolerance to certain sugars, you should only take the product after consulting your doctor.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pack.
