What is ben-u-ron and what is it used for?

ben-u-ron is a pain reliever and antipyretic medicine used for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain and/or fever in children 2 to 8 years old.The active ingredient paracetamol has analgesic and antipyretic effects.

What do you need to consider before using ben-u-ron?

ben-u-ron must not be used if your child is hypersensitive to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients or suffers from severe impairment of liver function.Particular caution is required in cases of chronic alcohol abuse, impaired liver or kidney function and Gilbert's syndrome.In these cases, ben-u-ron should only be used after consulting a doctor.

It is important to avoid the risk of overdose by ensuring that other medicines used at the same time do not contain paracetamol.Long-term, high-dose use of painkillers can cause headaches that should not be treated with increased doses.Habitual use of painkillers can cause permanent kidney damage.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if your child is taking other medicines, as interactions are possible.ben-u-ron must not be used together with alcohol.During pregnancy, ben-u-ron should only be used after careful consideration of the benefit-risk ratio.Paracetamol passes into breast milk, but stopping breastfeeding is usually not necessary.

How to use ben-u-ron?

Unless otherwise prescribed, always use ben-u-ron exactly according to the instructions in the instructions for use.The dosage depends on the age and body weight of the child.Small children aged 2-4 years with a body weight of 13-15 kg can receive 1 suppository (250 mg paracetamol) up to 3 times a day at least 6 hours apart.Children aged 4-8 years weighing 16-25 kg can receive 1 suppository up to 4 times a day, at least 6 hours apart.

If possible, the suppositories are inserted deep into the anus after a bowel movement.To improve lubrication, you can warm the suppositories in your hand or briefly dip them in warm water.Do not use ben-u-ron for longer than 3 days without medical advice.If symptoms last longer than 3 days, you should consult a doctor.

What side effects are possible?

Like all medicines, ben-u-ron can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Rarely, a slight increase in certain liver enzymes may occur.Very rarely, allergic reactions such as a skin rash or hives or even a shock reaction can occur.Changes in blood counts have also been reported very rarely.

How to store ben-u-ron?

Keep medicines out of the reach of children.ben-u-ron must not be used after the expiry date stated on the container.The medicine should not be stored above 25°C.
