Instructions for use for the article Vidisic EDO eye gel

Vidisic® EDO® 2 mg/g eye gel contains the active ingredient carbomer.It is used to replace tear fluid in the event of impaired tear production and for the symptomatic treatment of dry eye.No prescription is required for this product.

Important notes

Vidisic® EDO® must not be used if you are allergic to carbomer or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Vidisic® EDO®.Wearing contact lenses is often not permitted if there is a lack of tears.However, if there are no objections to wearing contact lenses from an ophthalmological point of view, they should be removed before instilling Vidisic® EDO® and not reinserted until at least 15 minutes after instillation.

Use of Vidisic® EDO® together with other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or using any other medicines.To date, no specific interactions are known.If you also use other eye drops or eye ointments, there should be an interval of approx. 15 minutes between applications.Vidisic® EDO® can extend the time other eye drops remain in the eye and thus increase their effect.To avoid this, Vidisic® EDO® should always be used last.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.No special studies have been carried out on pregnant patients with Vidisic® EDO®.However, for fundamental reasons, the use of Vidisic® EDO® during pregnancy and breastfeeding should only be carried out after careful risk-benefit assessment by the doctor.

Ability to drive and use machines

As with all eye drops, temporary blurred vision or other visual impairments may affect the ability to drive or use machines.If blurred vision occurs immediately after instillation, you should not drive or operate machines until the impairment has subsided.

Vidisic® EDO® eye gel contains phosphates

This medicine contains 0.009 mg phosphates per drop corresponding to 0.26 mg/ml.If you suffer from severe damage to the cornea, phosphates during treatment can in very rare cases cause clouding of the cornea due to calcium deposits.

Application of Vidisic® EDO®

Dry eye therapy requires individual dosage.The recommended dose, depending on the severity and severity of the symptoms, is 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 3 to 5 times a day or more often and approx. 30 minutes before going to bed.A new one-dose ophthiol should be used for each application.

Type of application

For use on the eyes.Tilt your head back.Use the index finger of one hand to pull the lower eyelid down.With the other hand, hold the one-dose ophtiol vertically over the eye (without touching the eye or other surfaces) and instill a drop into the pulled-down conjunctival sac.Slowly close your eye and move it back and forth to allow the gel to spread well.

Duration of application

When treating dry eye, which is usually long-term or continuous therapy, an ophthalmologist should be consulted.Vidisic® EDO® is suitable for long-term therapy.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Very rarely, local intolerance reactions to one of the ingredients may occur.In very rare cases, patients with severe corneal damage developed clouding of the cornea due to calcium deposits during treatment with eye drops containing phosphates.

Storage

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.You may no longer use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the container and the outer carton after "use by".The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.Vidisic® EDO® does not contain any preservative.Opened one-dose ophtiols must therefore not be stored.The remaining amount in the ophtiol after use should be discarded.Do not store above +25 °C.Store the one-dose ophtiols in the outer carton to protect the contents from light.

The active ingredient is carbomer (viscosity 40,000-60,000 mPa s) in a concentration of 2 mg/g eye gel.The other ingredients are sorbitol, sodium monohydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment) and water for injections.Vidisic® EDO® is a clear, colorless eye gel.
